S2000 tires

Hey guys I am at the time of buying new tires and my mechanic said he estimated that I have a month to go with my rear tires and I was wondering will it be okay to have 235/40/17 in the front and 265/40/17 in the rear. Right know I am running stock but I love having the tires spacing out and I dont want to buy spacers. Do you think that will be a problem even if I lower my car in the future. Thanx I really appreciate it.

You will definitely have some rubbing issues with both those sizes if you lower the car. You're not only going wider on the back but also taller. The lower profile fronts may not be as bad but you're still probably going to rub at full lock or when cornering hard.

Stock, you might get away with it, though I've never seen those sizes used before. You're also going to pay a lot more money for that width on the back and your tire choices are very limited for max performance tires.

225/45/17 at the front and 255/40/17 at the back is ideal. It's what I ran and the sizes are readily available in a lot of tire types and prices. Improves braking and stabilizes the car nicely.

Here's a link to my "For Sale" pictures for my car. It had 225/255 tires on it at the time of sale.

You'll never get "flush" without going to aftermarket wheels or using spacers on the stock wheels. The 225/255 definitely looks more aggressive, though, especially with tires that are wide for their size (Azenis, RE-01R, etc, etc).

Yep, that is my size set up at the moment. I want the new Bridgestone RE-011 when these Toyos wear out.

Hey guys I just went to the tire shop and they told me not to go 225 and 255 because it wont work in my car and it will give me less traction. But I told him I still want those tires and still recommends me to get the regular tire size of the s2000. Also doesnt the CR have 255 in the rear wouldnt be the same for the regular s2000 eventhough the s2000 comes with 245. What do you think I should do? since I took my brother and mom they are worried that I am going to a bigger size it is going hurt my car and ruin it because right know my car is running stock. Please reply because I am hoping in buying the tires today as soon as possible. THANX

If you have stock wheels, you will be fine. This is a very common combination and will do absolutely no damage to your car. I ran it for years.

The stock S2000 CR has 255/40/17 tires on back, so that's definitely okay. Going 10mm wider on the fronts, to 225/45/17, definitely isn't damaging.

Believe me, you will have more traction and a safer car, as it is much better balanced with those sizes.

I hope you meant 225/45 and 255/40, not 225/40 and 255/45....
