OK, I think this is where i post my introduction, so here it goes. (If this is the wrong thread, my apologies... and what the hell am I reading about a membership dues? That's a first of many forums/clubs i've been involved with...) Anyway, I'm JD, user name suicide_blonde named after the 05 Rio i'm picking up this weekend here in town. I've been keeping my eye out for a yellow or red S2000 for a couple months now, and the yellow came first, and I'm thinking it's the better choice, i swear i could just make out with this car. Anyway! I started in performance vehicles about 5 yrs ago, with mustangs, went through a gt, then a cobra, then the real eye opener, an 05 STi. That car gave me new respect to import/tuner cars. I loved that car, and the current owner does as well. I got rid of it because the Wife and I, (just the two of us at this point, planning for a mini me soon) were planning on relocating back east, so i downgraded to an 02 Bugeye WRX to maintain the AWD and sportiness, well, turns out, my highly modified STi and my bone stock WRX are nowhere near the same car like i thought they would be, plus it looks like we'll be staying in sunny texas for another few years or more now. Now, speed and power is great and all, but more than anything, i've been looking for a car to talk to me, tell me what's going on around me, on the road, and really give good car to driver feedback, and include me in everything the car does, so, enter the S! Sure it's not as fast as the Subie, but i'll be damned if it's not as reliable or better, has a drop top for wonderful texas weather minus summer, looks beautiful (see above about making out with car), and i can buy two tires at a time, with better gas mileage. Call it a quarter-life crisis, but this car fits what i need from an A to B transport, response and excitement. So that lands me here. And that's about it, once i get the car i will post pics up. I'm really looking foward to the ownership experience and getting to come out and hang with what i think will be a similar crowd, well i'm hoping anyway. Not too into the whole, showing off, street racing, my exhaust is louder than yours, stuff. I did that for a few months with both the Cobra and the STi, and saw too much stoopid crap being done by Stoopid ppl, so I quit going out. Well my goodness i think i've talked enough good lord! I'll stop now, anyway, I hope to find this local community to be close knit and sensible and not idiots with rwd vtec.

Welcome JD! I think you'll find that we're a pretty fun group. We have some great events coming up this summer, so please feel free to peruse the forum and see if you can make it to any of them. We conduct our drives in a responsible manner, and several local members have chosen the track as their primary venue to get their ya-yas out. I highly recommend it!

good to hear. i'm a big fan of SCCA Houston. I've had my WRX out there once, a friends SVT Focus once, and plan on taking the S out a couple times at least just to get a good feel for the limits of the tires/suspension setup, obviously i realize the car could totally out-handle me, the driver, so i'll want some good seat time with it. again, really looking forward to the car and the ownership experience, and look forward to meeting some of you guys out and about!
