day 1: the race to yellowstone
today started off like any other mile high drive... denver found a way to show up late and we had two people drop out at the last minute. We missed you Timg and Anotherhonda. Alan S joined us for the first leg of yellowstone to rabbit ears pass. we made it to our first check point with no incidents, until... WillErickson let a local teen drive his NSX through the strip of Pinedale Wy. a cop pulled the NSX over before they could even begin to cruise the 1.5 mile strip of Pinedale. from now on WillErickson's nickname is "verbal." we will be in yellowstone tomorrow, stay tuned. Much love to Timg, AnotherHonda, and my girl, s2keepup.
More pictures and more explainations to follow ;)

day 2: once we left pinedale it was the last leg to yellowstone. we were not 2 miles into the park before the entire group got a verbal warning from the park rangers :) where do i go from here. we got some amazing pictures and i got a crack in my 2nd honda windshield for this s2000 :( kyle and i got lost for lunch and i managed to roam around the entire park sans group at Old Faithful. we made it to our second destination point and i of all people booked my reservation for Mar 06 instead of May 06 :eyes: silly me. and because of my ignorance i was put up in a b&b that's bed and breakfast for you non b&b literate peoples. so i am staying at a cool place sans group... again.
shout out to my girl s2keepup, and bart i got your journal ready for the next redliner.

day 3 started with promise for a beautiful day and a chance to finish the yellowstone tour. the bed and breakfast was everything the hotels the rest of the guys stayed at dreamed it could be. we saw waterfall after waterfall and made it through the park via 8 miles of unpaved roads. we went offroading down a deep grade canyon. once we were past the east exit the roads were wide, fast, and beautiful as the eye can see. we made great time to our night 3 destination. we also made some friend with the local cops here in Cody, Wyoming.
enjoy! tomorrow morning we are headed back to the mile high.
i did not forget you chica, hi s2keepup, keep up the good fight! :wink1:

wow, there's still snow! Haven't been to yellowstone since 1984. Any pics of Old Faithful?
Wow. thats all I can think of to say. Wish I could have gone. Hope to have some great conversations at monthly meeting. Btw I did do great at races today. Was great to see Terry there, thanks for taking time to show up. Took 1st place in A-stock, beating 2 other S2000's and one Cobra Mustang. The S2K I beat had several mods, including racing tires, while I'm still running on M/S Falkens

tie that binds: we all came about this yellowstone trip in our way. john & monica from longmont. will from walmart. scott from the purple martini. kyle from littleton. denver from denver. silk from the navy. we all decided on an s2000 in our right and our own time. together we turned a simple road trip into memories that will last a lifetime. i risked my pride and joy to invest in my life. i would normally be more upset about the condition of my vehicle but such is life.
day 1 recap
it started very early for most of us. sleep was a premium. we arrived in Pindale Wy in goodtime. many thanks and more love goes to denver for handling lead dog of the pack. Pinedale is a town of 1400 give a take a few people. will and i walked to the Napa store DIRECTLY across the street from the hotel for some Mobil 1 oil. we could see the OPEN sign displayed on the window. by the time we crossed the street they had turned the sign around. will knocked on the door and they ignored his attempt to get their attention. we found another auto parts store and walked with the hope that they were still open for business. as we ventured to the next store we noticed that a burnt orange nissan sentra se-r was cruising the half mile strip of pinedale. i promised will if i saw that se-r one more time i would scream. sure enough i got the kid's attention and he pulled up to the hotel parking lot to marvel at the colorful display of japanese engineering.
fast forward a few hours, will had given phil(se-r owner) a ride in the nsx. as they began the grand strip a cop had pulled over the nsx.
:below: camera phone pic of will getting a verbal :)
http://www.s2kca.com/photopost/data/500/194805-26-06_2059.jpg
bad news right! well, it's complicated. come to find out after the cop sent the nsx on it's way. phil had been the one driving. and the only reason that the nsx got pulled over was because john and jason(local rsx owner) were taking turns lighting up the strip of pinedale in john's NFR 00 s2k. so the person who called in the loud car could not identify between said cars. and that is how much fun we had on day 1 and how will is now known as "Verbal."
thanks to will and john those two kids lives will never be better than it was on that day. yes their lives have peaked! will and john are heroes to these pinedale teens.
day 2 recap
we started very early for some of us. we were a stones throw away from yellowstone. i got a crack in my windshield and kyle & i ended up putting a horrible brand of gas in our car that we dubbed it E85 for the rest of the trip. not 2 miles into the park we were rolling at 60+ miles and a park ranger turned on his lights to inform us that we needed to observe the speed limit inside the park. we saw some wildlife, kyle & i got lost, then i got lost on my own. i used the hug a tree method. i parked my car and waited for contact. i was sufferring from withdrawls having to drive on my own in that big park. needless to say i was glad to be found and we all saw old faithful together.
this night i accidently booked my room for Mar 06 verse May 06 and the super 8 sent me to Headwater B&B for the super 8 rate. it was a great experience that could have been made worse by my ignorance. we split up into 3 groups for dinner and we all had a nice evening.
day 3 recap
we were anxious to get going and make our way through the rest of the park. we got to see an amazing waterfall. honestly though you've seen one waterfall you've seen them all ;) as i was walking up to catch the rest of the group i spotted that will slipped on a rock and lost his footing. i ran up with the greatest concern and asked, "Will, did that hurt?" he replied that, "it did hurt!" and my only repsonse was a natural, <in Tony the Tiger voice> "Great! i'm glad!"
the last 8 or so miles out the east exit is unpaved. so we had to go forward with our route in the dirt and all.
the drive to Cody, Wy was amazing. if scott and i had known that kyle was so close we would have turned around and did it again. our cars were very popular in this town as well as in pinedale. the cody sheriff came by to give us compliments.
day 4 recap
we had to break up into two groups because half of us were antsy about getting home. we made great time and speed. the roads were very clear. no one was out and about the time we were on the road. monica felt like she was being attacked by every low flying bird. and will put another crack in my already ruined windshield. in my defense will has been making me look like an idiot the entire trip. everytime i tell myself to stop listening and he comes up with a clever way to make me buy into his BS. so i made it a point to stop every tourist to tell them how much disdain i had for Will. :)
i don't know how much i will be driving my car the rest of the year but i can honestly say that it was worth the cracked windshield, screwed up bumper, money, gas, loss of sleep, and seat time.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for everything, what a freakin blast.
I did check with my Radar detector company and they will NOT cover the ticket. I was mistaken. :( So, if anyone wants to chip in for the $72 ticket I got, please do. ;) I am just glad they didn't get Will and I going the undisclosed speed several days earlier. (Ask if you are curious, I won't post, because of self incrimination) ;)
Take care guys and thanks again for an AMAZING trip.

fast forward a few hours, will had given phil(se-r owner) a ride in the nsx. as they began the grand strip a cop had pulled over the nsx.
:below: camera phone pic of will getting a verbal :)
http://www.s2kca.com/photopost/data/500/194805-26-06_2059.jpg
bad news right! well, it's complicated. come to find out after the cop sent the nsx on it's way. phil had been the one driving. and the only reason that the nsx got pulled over was because john and jason(local rsx owner) were taking turns lighting up the strip of pinedale in john's NFR 00 s2k. so the person who called in the loud car could not identify between said cars. and that is how much fun we had on day 1 and how will is now known as "Verbal."
thanks to will and john those two kids lives will never be better than it was on that day. yes their lives have peaked! will and john are heroes to these pinedale teens.remember this story! well, i just received pics from Phil himself. better late than never.
