Are you going to S2KDays in San Antonio? I can see an educational "show & tell" on the horizon... :)

http://www.kustomkaraudio.com does awesome work. If you need any advice on how to DIY it, let me know. Audio install is usually pretty straight forward. I did all of mine myself and have done a few installs for others. I would offer to help, but I'll barely be home over the next few months.

Boyd - I didn't know that was your specialty. I recently picked up a used CDA-9855 from a local member and ordered some new Boston SX60's to replace the door speakers. I know I'm going to have to cut the back out of the "speaker basket" for additional depth. I also got the PAC SWI-ALP for the dash controls. Do have any experience with any of these and do you have any suggestions or concerns. I plan on installing them this weekend. Thanks.

I wanted to get this installed today. Would anyone recommend either best buy or circuit city for installs then? Thanks for the offer for help Goku. I appreciate it. When would you be able to help with the install if I decided to go that route?

I havent worked with the Pacswi-Alp but have heard that they are slow to respond to your dash inputs. As for your doors after you cut out the plastic make sure the window will still go all the way down, and once your done for the love of good make sure your conections are tight on the speaker. Nothing sucks more than to pull the door off two weeks latter cause the speaker is cutting in and out. Also just a side note on taking out the stock radio. If you've never had the front face cover is pretty tight, i found using a pick tool and pulling at the top (where those vents are) will allow it to come out the cleanest. After that its a walk in the park.

Thank god someone posted NOT to go to those **** holes before I could. They will absolutly mess your car up. Car toys is the only place i recomend and i dont really even recomend it. As for a time to help you out, just name a date and I'll say yes or no :o

Yeah I took it to C toys. Had it installed on Saturday. I actually should have listened to Silk.

Ok, so I got an infinity powered sub installed. They did an ok job but charged me 160 bucks!

Here's where it gets crazy. (the trust factor) The guy pulls up to the curb on Saturday morning after the install and scratches under my front bumper on the curb. I see from a distance some guy helping him push it back away from the curb.

(The Kicker) - I had to mention something before they would admit to it. Then when I went outside with the guy he tried to say it was already there. I showed him it was not (already there). They offered to fix it at least.

Taking it in to the Honda body shop soon. Also, they must have closed the hood from high up because I cannot close it correctly now. My advice: Stay away from C Toys!

Sorry for the book but you all should know.

tansky sorry to hear that. But it is very typical. now like kwando says, he goes to soundtrack, and had a good time. But most people when they have a bad time have a BAD TIME, just like tansky did. Glad you pushed the issue and got them to do the bumper. I still remember when I had my civic and let them do Sirius Sat on my car, and i was worried they would mess it up. Which they did, scrached my roof where the sat reciver goes, and I had to go back twice for the problems with reception, because they ran the wire and broke it so my siginal would cut in and out. Now with the S2K I'm the only one that works on it, and if I take it in for service(which I cant do), I have one mechanic that I trust, and I know he will drive my car with care. Tho I know he takes it out to play abit, but that doesnt bother me so much, its when you get that punk service porter driving your baby that you lose sleep at night

So I just wanted to let everyone know that even though I experienced some negative things at first with car toys they made up for it.

1.They are paying for the accidental damage
2.They had some trouble getting the powered sub to work right so they threw in a crossover at no extra charge.

So, even though they made a mistake I am happy with the resolution.

This is the only reason I will even say to go to car toys. They will bend over backwards to make you happy if they screw up. Sadly tho it seems they always screw up....

Thanks for your help on this though. If I decide to do anything else in the future with audio installation I will come to you first.

Thanks!

Boyd,
How about something simple (at least I THINK it will be) as a MP3 jack into the head unit? I would really like to patch my XM direct versus the FM method - but not sure how doable it is.

boyd - i have a phython 880 2way alarm, but i hate the backup batt/siren that DEI makes... its not completely sealed and water gets in... i want to replace it with something else... any recommnedations??? i have a clifford siren (old siren before DEI bought them out) that has a +, -, and two trigger wires... i thought it was easy to install but i can't get it to work... can you help me out?

Goku

Rod: It can be done if you current deck has Aux inputs on it. If it doesnt then you need to do the FM. Its fine either way.
Kwando: More than likly the siren you using requires a 12v constant. So pretty much hook up the red to the batt, and the black/red to the wire coming from the alarm for the siren out put...think its brown... If that doesnt work then the alarm is putting out 12v for the siren but its not strong enough to power it, which means you would need a relay to change it. Cake job, let me know if ya need some help getting it done, I'd do it for a 6 pack or 10 bucks... Cash is better :D
