Actually, when I do go I will probably fly and then have to beg others for a spare seat. As much as I would love to have my own car up there on those awesome roads I try to maximize my vacation time and I'm fortunate enough to be a million miler on American so I have the benefit of a nice balance in my AAdvantage acount. :)

Then again, Frontier has some pretty good fairs direct from Dallas that might actually make more sense. Have you guys figured out that I'm already looking into making a visit yet? ;)

The main benefit you get from hitting 1 million on American is you have gold status for life. I was platinum for many years and got used to it but my business travel has been cut back in the last couple years. Oh well - hitting 2 million and getting platinum for life is a ways away for me know. :(

My only "Iron Butt" ride would be from Albuquerque to Houston in one day. I had "sold" my CBR900RR to a friend who was going to pay me later. And when he didn't pay a penny after a year had passed, I flew up to retrieve it. The ride started out a sub-freezing early morning and ended up with a 100 degree Texas day. Needless to say, 1 wardrobe change was required to complete the trip. :flames:
