I submitted formal requests to rent both Laguna Seca and Infineon next spring. Given our solid relationship with Laguna Seca, the chances are pretty good that we'll score a Sunday there in May or June. The hope for Infineon is a date in late February/early March to center next year's Winter Wine Tour around.

We'll know if we landed Laguna by August and Infineon by about Thanksgiving. Keep your fingers crossed! :D

Hey, Perry, any track days coming up in California? Laguna Seca or Infineon that we can join? Vegas is too far. Sorry.

Perry,
Great news on the tracks. Hope we get the time. Also, is there a way to get a list of names of members in a local area such as the central coast (say Paso Robles to Ventura)? It would be nice to know if there are any other crazies around here.

MikeHey buddy, glad to hear from ya. :) To answer your question, privacy issues prevent us from giving member contact information, so what we have to do if you want to contact everyone in your area is send out an email on your behalf, containing your contact info, and let people get in touch with you if they want to. Of course, you could always post a thread about it here and get about the same net benefit with a helluva lot less hassle. ;) Seriously though if you want me to I'd be glad to do it for ya.

Now bite the bullet and go sign you and Katie up for the Vegas event, man! :D

Perry, last time I was at Laguna with my Z either NCRC or LS were enforcing the broomstick rule. Was it just NCRC or do you think LS has a track policy on roll bar clearance ?

Unless something has changed with LS's insurance, and I doubt it has, that would be an NCRC thang. They're a little uptight for my taste.

Dinah,

Trackmasters has a Laguna Seca track day on Sept 10-11 and December 1 and Infineon on November 13.

Down in Lone Star country, I don't think we'll try to rent a track, but still have Track Days via Drivers Edge (http://www.thedriversedge.net/)(easier to get into & two different tracks) or maybe LSRPCA (http://www.lsrpca.com/DE/DE.html) if we can get everyone in.

Doing things that way can really help you get a good deal for the members and perhaps even generate some funds that can help you guys put other events together.

Just visited (for the first time) Laguna Seca last weekend for ALMS and Star Madza. Hands down, prettiest track I've been to yet. Would love to run "Mom's Baby", especially in the cork screw and down Rahal straight, but we live in Florida. My chances are slim. . . . .

Do you know of any east coast track events for S2's? I'm a new member as of today and still exploring the site and forums. Finding the radio code was the prime objective, however, I've solved that thanks to the ins and out forum and now ready to move on. . . . . By the way, 02 Sebring Silver/Red.

after this weekend, having 17 S2000 at TWS, I think it will become a bi-yearly event.

At least bi-yearly! Let's try the Houston MSR too, if possible.

bi-annual = every two years

semi-annual = every six months

What would you prefer? ;)

Coop

Ok twice a year, and yes one at MSR Houston would be a plus or replace a TWS

We should have these events added to the S2KCA calendar for others to see way in advance.

Whats the broomstick rule?
Something about needing an upgraded roll-cage? The Honda roll headrests arent enough? :D

They place a stick over the driver and the drivers head must be below the stick as it sits on top of the roll hoop and the windshield.

Not all HPDE groups enforce this rule.

Hope this helps.

Just got off the phone with Laguna Seca and guess what...?

We scored another track day!

Next Laguna Seca track day will be on Thursday, February 2nd of 2006, which is the week after the Winter Wine Tour and right before the Super Bowl. We were offered other mid-week dates throughout early to mid-January but ultimately decided that we'll stand a better chance of selling out a February event than 3-4 weeks earlier. :)

Details will be announced soon, so stay tuned, folks! :D

Good work Perry.

I love driving Laguna. Especially since the gator curbs are gone. Love those Moto GP boys.

monkeymaker

how much was last year's cost ?Only $250 for S2KCA members, $295 for non-members. That was a great price for Laguna, so it's going to be tough to beat, but I'm trying anyway!

No, this will be with Trackmasters. You'll probably get 5 sessions, or about 2 hrs of track time.

I've been driving/instructing with TrackMasters for a couple (few?) years now, and they are by far the best group I've run with. NASA is fun too, but you get far less track time and it's quite a cluster**** if you know what I mean. Because Doug runs his HPDE open track events so well we've chosen to partner with him on numerous club track days. Expect to see about a quarter of the cars being S2000's. :)

Hello Sk2r's,

Just wondering, do you welcome other types of cars at your events?

Also, what's the weather like at Laguna Seca in February?

Thanks.

Thanks.Yes, other cars are welcome at our track events. For this one you'll be registering at www.trackmasters-racing.com. The reg site for this event should be up by this weekend. I'd advise registering and paying as soon as possible because I've been fielding calls from interested people all over the place, and if past history is any indication, this event is definitely going to sell out.

As for the weather that time of year, there's always a chance of a little moisture, but there's a better chance that we'll have another beautiful day, just like we had during January and March events there in the past.

I'm green with envy, all I can do is PlayStation.
It's cold here and no autocross or track events until April.
Have fun!!!

Hey folks, I'm a new S2kCA member and wondering what's happening with trackdays in Limerock, CT??

thanks, amsoil1960

I'm sure there would be a bunch of members from the Northeast that would be interested in a track day at a classic track like Limerock. We've been trying to get some events going in the NE region but it's been a challenge since we are currently without a NE regional director to help organize events.

We've had several NE members join since the first of the year so maybe you guys can ignite some interest by putting together a track day there. I'm sure it's tough having to deal with all of that cold and snow while dreaming about a fun track day when things warm up.

If you have experience in track events maybe you could help get something put together. Now's the time to start planning.

I have a similar question. Just became a member of this club. Is there a event calendar?
I relocated to the Mountain View, CA 3 months ago from Manhattan. Used to do Solo1 with my ITR. I just got my 06 S in addition. And I want to do some track over here. Drift school too =) if there's one.
Anyone has a fix for my speed bug?

topoff - yes, there is a Club event calendar on the main forums page. On the right side it lists upcoming events. Also, there is a Bay Area chapter that you might want to check out. They have there own chapter forum too where they post about events (like the Hwy 1 drive coming up this weekend I think). To access the chapter forum just go to the forums pull down menu on the nav bar and you'll see the Bay Area chapter forum.

We also have at least one track day at Laguna Seca each year. Your best contact for track days is former Club President Perry (monkeymaker). He's the resident track junky.

I hope that helps man!

If it's track time you want it's track time you shall have! Send me a pm any time, man. Check out trackmasters-racing.net too. They run a ton of really excellent HPDE's at Laguna, Infineon, Thunderhill, and more. :)
