I just recently purchased a 2004 AP2 with 3300 miles. The car looks brand new and of course mileage wise it almost is despite 5-6 years of age now.
My question the battery looks original however it is a Panasonic brand. I have a Accord and it has what I think is the factory battery in it (bought it used also) and it is a Honda Battery or says Honda on it where the S2000 has Panasonic. Can anyone tell me if this Panasonic is factory.
Thanks and this is wonderful group and website I was very happy to find.

Out of curiosity, do you mind sharing what you paid for that car? Most AP2s are in the $14.5K-$17K range these days but they also typically have 25K+ miles on them.

The car was at a Toyota Dealership and they had it priced @ $20,000. I had a trade in which was actually worth more than this car. I did draw some boot but not all I thought I should have. I have been looking for an S2000 for years but didn't want to buy new however it had to be a special car as this one is. The car was priced over book but where are you going to find a S2000 2004 with anywhere this kind of mileage ? This car is brand new not even a scuff on the door sills and under the hood and underneath just looks like it rolled off the truck. Clean car fax and talked to the owner who traded it in. He wasn't driving it and his wife was on him to get rid of the car and get something they would drive.

It could be original as I too have a MY 2004 (mileage is around 40,000) with the original battery ...

My 2004 also has the original Panasonic battery (not for long though.) You might want to check the level of electrolite in the six chambers though. Mine was very low when I recently checked. I know it says the battery is "Maintenance free", but don't believe it. You need to remove the sticker that covers the six access screws to refill it, if necessary. Mine just won't hold a charge very long any more, hence, the replacement upcoming. If your's is okay, just stick with it.
And, oh yeah, congrats on your purchase.

Get an Optima D51, 26 lbs and can be deep discharged without damage like conventional batteries.

I think they all did. Only reason I replaced mine was because I added a amp and new head-unit. It was still going strong after 5 years.
