what all noise do you guys here from inside the cockpit? what would be normal? seems like i get a lot of clutch noise cruising in a low gear to a stop. i sometimes also hear a faint "whining" noise coming from transmission when selecting a lower gear like 2nd during downshift, at low speed. should i have nothing to worry about? just curious.

I bought my S2k 2 years ago. I was 56 at the time and this was the first convertible that had ever been in. I could not believe how much you noise you could hear coming from outside the car. Even with the top up I could hear everything around me. You get use to it. I do have a hardtop now and that REALLY helps reduce the noise. Still there is nothing better on a warm spring day than to turn off the radio, drop the top and listen to that motor sing.:car:

There's a very well-documented clutch deceleration buzz with earlier S2000s, so perhaps that's contributing to the noise you're hearing. Your description doesn't sound particularly worry-some, though. These cars are not quiet.

It's a sports car, it's not suppose to be a quiet experience. From the decription you have given, it sounds to me like you are getting the full experience of the drive. Enjoy it.

Yeah - you will come to embrace these noises over time - plus some new ones you probably haven't heard yet. The clutch buzz aside though - I can't think of any other roadster that's any quieter. Unless you want to spend a lotta mo' money.

You think you've got noise? You should spend a few minutes in my Morgan. Now THAT'S noisy!
