All I can say is ya done good! All of you did exceptionally well, and of course the BOD too. (yea Justin that includes you)
We had a great time. Pebble beach was fun, especially the part where the "tourists" were taking our pictuures.
Napa was a new experience for us. We are not wine people, but the experience was enlightening, and yea, we did buy a bottle too.
GG bridge is a must see (except for all of that football traffic just after the Bay Bridge toll booths...)
Lonnie and I are now headed south and will soon turn east for the trek toward Flagstaff...
Louie, Get well soon.
If all works out, we will be in Asheville NC next year

There were a bunch of Japanese tourists at a scenic stop that were running to the street to take pictures of us driving by when we were going to Monterrey...
Like they had never seen that car before.
But yes, thanks for everyone involved who made this happen.

So you are planning to drive east? :D
Excellent. I'll think of something to make the second leg of the drive worthwhile if you guys swing by Houston.

This has been a really great meet! Thank you, everyone who had a hand in making it happen. I'm sorry Louie was sick and unable to come, after putting in so much effort for the club :( .
I truly enjoyed meeting so many friendly, happy people of S2KCA. It's so much better to picture a face and remember a voice, when reading someone's posts. The three drives were all different and interesting and fun. I've lived in California all my life but had never driven the Napa Valley, the 17 Mile Drive in Pebble Beach, or over the Golden State Bridge before. The fleece jacket is good looking and useful, and I'm happy to have it as a souvenir of these good times. I'm so happy to know who Justin is now. I'm smiling just thinking about him. I was glad to have Jason ride with me on Friday and Saturday, and Melinda join me on the :drinking: Mumm's Winery tour. Dave so deserves the honor of Volunteer of the Year.
This was a class meet! Thank you, contributors.

We had a great time. We are already working on how we can get to Ashville next year.
Sorry Louie couldn't be there, he was missed.
Congrats to Dave who I feel deserves the Volunteer of the Year award.

We are finally back home after our long trip! We want to say BIG THANK you to all the organizers of the great event - it was a excellent ending of our honeymoon! It was very nice to meet all friends and meet a lot of new people form the other coast! And it was nice to finally see Dave's (repiv) car in person!
Thanks again to everyone!!!!

Thanks to Louie, the Bay Area crew, and everyone else who organized and helped make S2KCA Days in San Francisco a HUGE success.
All your hard work and patience are very much appreciated; it was a wonderful event filled with great people, fun drives, and good times.
I am really looking forward to seeing everyone again & meeting new people in Asheville next year.

Dick, you're too modest. You, Janet, Frank, Marianne, Mike, Havey, Cynthia, and others jumped in and filled a big void left when Lou fell ill. Thanks to all of you for a job well done before and during the event.
Thanks Lou for all of the great work you did prepareing for this, we all missed you and felt badly that you couldn't be part of the event you put so much work into. Get well soon.
The BoD obviously worked hard before and during the event to ensure it came out great. Thanks to all of you.
Of course, the people who attend are ultimately the key to success, so thanks to everyone for coming and making the event wonderful. Thanks especially to Dave for making the long drive and making a such a big contribution to the event, just as you do every day for the club.
Karen and I really hope we can make the cross country trek to see everyone next year in Asheville.

Thanks to all that had a part in putting S2KDays 2009 together. It was another great success. The banquet was one of the best that I can remember. The drives were great and there were lots of them. Where else would someone drive over 2000 miles so that they can drive several more hundreds before they start back home. This will be a tough act to follow but I guess Rose Mary and I will just have to go next year to see if it can be done.

This was my first S2KDays and was more than I ever expected. Even though I had a very packed schedual for the weekend I enjoyed every minute I spent with the many new friend I acquired. The organization and execution was exceptional and very well thought out. I do hope to attend the next S2KDays in Ashville and expierience the "Dragon". Thanks to Louie and friends for a great event.

We enjoyed this event and being able to talk and drive with Y'all (Justinese). The venue was great and the food (grilled salmon, pizza, pulled pork sandwiches) was very good. I enjoyed the tech session where I learned much from VOY repiv. The only thing I didn't like was the Bay Area traffic.
Thanks to all of you event organizers!

THANKS to everyone who had enything to do do with S2KDAYS 2009. We drove a long way and it was worth every mile. Special thanks to Lou (get well soon) for doing a great job setting up such a fantastic event. So sorry you weren't able to enjoy it with us. We really wanted to meet you and thank you in person but maybe next year in N.C.
It was great meeting so many nice people that we never have the chance to meet at GTG's in the east.
We would love to see every one of you at S2KDAYS 2010 in beautiful (no traffic) Ashville,N.C.

 Thanks to all the people who worked so hard to organize this event. This was one of the first real vacations my wife and I have taken in quite a while and we had such a great time. Wish we could have made it in time for Friday as well. The most amazing part of this experience for both of us was all of you. Not one sour apple in the group. Everyone was warm and friendly and seem to be having a great time. And finding out about our secret compartment was just a bonus.
Thanks again to everyone for making this last week one to remember.

Although I've been a member of S2kCA for a few years, this was the first event that I've attended. A special thanks to Rosemary for sending the email that finally convinced Patty (Kyras) and me that we should attend. What a great bunch of people, and an exceptionally fun time! The drive thru the twisties on Sunday was my favorite, and it was a special bonus to finally get to meet Dave! He's forgotten more about the S2000 than I'll ever know.
Thanks again,

Thanks to all of the members who drove thousands of miles to meet other clubmembers at this S2KDays in San Francisco. I am glad all of you have gotten home safely and are planning the how-tos of attending the 2010 S2KDays in Asheville, NC.
LouieV is still in the hospital...he can't believe another Thursday has come and gone. Doctors are still poking and prodding. There isn't any internet in his room so he hasn't been able to reap his S2KDays harvest and see all the posted get well wishes or read the different exciting threads about S2KDays.
Last evening I visited with Lou for about 45-min bringing with me a laptop and a download of all the pics that Frank "therur" took during S2KDays. He finally got to put faces to online monikers. As I was packing up to leave Lou asked me "Mike, what car did you drive here?" I answered "My S"..."Do you want to go for a ride? I'll put the top down to make room for your IV stand!" He laughed, but he really did want to go for a ride.
Thanks again all who made this event memorable and enjoyable.

Ahhh, so you ended up with it. I would have loved to bring it home and the fact that I got through the border without even a question about what I had to declare, it could have. Good luck with sprouting that thing.
For those of you who are wondering what we're talking about, the "cone" was a very large pine cone of sorts. It's supposedly the cone from a very large, tall Monkey Puzzle tree found on the grounds of one of the wineries on the tour. These things just fall from a long way up. Pitty the poor bugger who gets hit by one.
Here's a picture of it:

Just to put things into perspective, here we have a "hand model" courtesy of the lovely Sondra:

I have been doing research on this "Cone". It is not a monkey puzzle tree cone, but a Bunya - Bunya tree cone. And they range in size of 22lbs to a soft ball size. So now I will try to grow a Bunya - Bunya tree:shocked: It is also called False Monkey Puzzle Tree.

I didn't go to this winery with these trees. Here is a picture of a Monkey Puzzle tree, which is what I've seen before in real life:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/31/Araucaria1.jpg
The branches of the bunya-bunya tree is almost identical to the Monkey Puzzle but arranged differently. Here is a picture of the bunya tree:

The cones from a Monkey Puzzle are also very similar. No wonder it's called a "false" Monkey Puzzle.
Good luck with sprouting it.
