Wow, what a drive! And I thought my drive from Washington state to San Antonio was long. Enjoy the trip and take in some of the tourist traps and scenery. It really helps on those long drives.

Enjoy your trip. You will find that the states get a LOT BIGGER when you get west of the Mississippi River. We will be leaving Monday morning for our trip to San Ramon, taking the northern route. We have it planned so we get into San Ramon pretty early Thursday. Looking forward to seeing you there.

We're on our way from Firth, NE........first night in Rock Springs, WY and last night in Winnemuca, NV. Yeah, we had to check out Bonneville Salt Flats! We are headed up into Oregon before heading back towards SF along Highway 1 along the coast. This is going to be a great S2K Days in SF.........see ya later!

Sounds like you are taking quite a trip yourselves. All the way across to the coast and then South to San Ramon is quit a trip. Enjoy the coast. Oregon and N. California coast lines are some of the wife and I's favorites. We'll be heading up the coast after S2KDays. Departing after lunch in Olema.

We leave in the morning for the first day of our trip.:shifter: Expect to make over 600 miles and then will only get through north Dakota and about half of Montana. We will be adding Washington and Oregon, as well as California of course, to the states our car has taken us. We too are really looking forward to seeing you again:agree: and getting to meet some new friends from out west.

DIdn't post Saturday--computer problems at hotel.
Saturday we left Colby,Ka. into Colorado to Colorado Springs to Pikes Peak. Was going to drive to top but found out that the last 5 miles was socked in-FOG. Decided to save the $20 and continue our trek west. We ended our Sat. in Monte Vista,CO. 444 miles,27 MPG on last tank.
Sunday; finished the last part of Colorado and saw our 1st S on the trip-silver AP2(i think) just east of Cortez,Co. He waved. Continued through small corner of N.Mexico and into Arizona. After finding a motel we drove about 25 miles into Utah to Monument Valley. Total 356 miles and 32 MPG on that tank full. FUN FUN FUN

And to think I drove from Richmond VA to Modesto, CA 64-85-40-99 in 3 days. The canyons in NM were fantastic. I was going about 75 and an R8 Evo9 and Audi came blasting by so I sped up to 100 plus to keep up. What a ride.

We are on our way. We made 613 miles today and we are now in Havre, MT. Rather uneventful trip so far except for the first 15 miles in Montana after we left North Dakota. We had 15 miles of pure dirt and gravel road dodging road graders and bulldozers. There are no alternative routes. See everyone on Thursday.

Today-9/15/2009 we left Lehi,Utah and drove across the state of Nevada ending in Truckee,Ca. 610 miles. We again didn't do any sightseeing but saw a lot of beautiful sights. We did stop at Bonneville Salt Flats. There were many cars there to make a run but were unable because of heavy rain Monday. They probably will have to wait until Thursday.
We filled the tank twice today- 32.6 MPG on the 1st and 28.6 on the 2nd. Total trip so far 3,471 miles. See ya Thursday.

We finished the 1st phase of our trip a day early. We are now at San Ramon Marriot. We want to see Yosemite & Sequoia nat'l parks but didn't feel we had enough time to see them both. Now we will have them to see after S2KDAYS. Our trip from Bridgeville,Delaware to San Ramon,Ca.-3,730 miles(the route we took). I also got to wash the S again today.
After the Sunday drive we will take off on the sightseeing part of the trip. We hope to see Yellowstone, Mt Rushmore, The Badlands, Columbia River Gorge, Devils Tower, maybe Glacier and others that we pass along the way.
Tomorrow more of our S2K friends arrive. Can't wait.

Very nice! Congrats on finishing the one way trip!
Yosemite and Sequoia are beautiful - but be sure to drive Kings Canyon Scenic byway too! You will LOVE it! I was sooo missing my S there! Here is the Google route: ROUTE (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=CA-180&daddr=36.79554,-118.582821&geocode=FXBdMAIdkuHo-A%3B&hl=ru&mra=mi&mrsp=1,0&sz=14&sll=36.791484,-118.587799&sspn=0.034574,0.07699&ie=UTF8&ll=36.770792,-118.793793&spn=0.276663,0.615921&z=11)

If you will be heading south from Sequoia NP - Route 198 is absolutely CRAZY - I didn't drive Dragon and I didn't count number of curves on this road - but you loose ~4000 feet in 10 miles - I never seen that many steep downhill 10 mph hairpin turns in such a short distance - I wish I had S2000 on that road.. Here is route : MAP (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=CA-198%2FGenerals+Hwy&daddr=36.519363,-118.772979&geocode=FQnJLQIdAqPr-A%3B&hl=ru&mra=mi&mrsp=1,0&sz=16&sll=36.522863,-118.777056&sspn=0.008674,0.019248&ie=UTF8&ll=36.54026,-118.782463&spn=0.069373,0.15398&z=13)

Well we're finally home. Arrived home yesterday 4 weeks and 9,486 miles later and had a wonderful time. What a BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY. We left San Ramon and went south and visited Sequoia, Kings Canyon & Yosemite National Parks. Then went back up north to Crater Lake in Oregon and then on to Columbia River Gorge on the Oregon/Washington border. Then visited relatives in Idaho Falls and then went to Yellowstone and Old Faithful. Then on to Devils Tower,Crazy Horse,Mt. Rushmore (where it snowed) and the Badlands of South Dakota then visited more friends & family on the way home. For those of you who like statistics the cheapest hi test gas was $2.41.9 in Ohio and the highest was $3.49.9 in (of course) California. We averaged 29 MPG. It was a fantastic trip, one that I thaught would never happen. We also have some new friends on the left coast and other parts of our great country that we hope we meet up with again. A belated thanks to all who made S2KDAYS 2009 a great GTG. Hopefully we will have some pics soon.

Thanks for the update. You drove just about double the miles we made. We were something over 4700 miles by the time we got home. We had hoped to go through Yellowstone and then over Beartooth Pass into Montana but all of their road construction made it so we couldn't do it in the time we had allowed ourselves.

I am glad you made it home safely and we look forward to seeing you at S2KDays in Ashville next August.
