Who will be at the hotel on Thursday?
In previous years we had a small GTG at the local outside bar and had some finger food.

Lets make this a time to put names to faces and have a little relaxation time after driving ( or flying  ) for some time :D

:whee:

I CANT WAIT

:hello: I should be there about mid evening on Thursday. Depends on how early I get going when I leave Kuna, Idaho that morning. The plan is to convoy down with Gomarlins3. With a couple of stops along the way, it should take about 12 hours.

the road I would be taking, if I were driving.....
OR I could take the scenic route... 80West to Chicago, to Rt66, ...... blahblah... or goto Newark Airport and go west... :D

According to Google maps, I80 is the best route to take and it says it will take about 7.5 hrs driving time to get from Kuna to Reno. With a lunch/gas break, that could put us into Reno around 3:30 - 4:00pm if we leave at 7am. Another 3.5 hrs puts us into San Ramon around 7:30pm, give or take. If you want to wait that long for us, I'm game. We should talk about this in detail the week before to map out a rendevous point and exchange phone numbers.

We will be in the area too. Maybe even as early as Wednesday. We may need some ideas on places to tour before the great S2Kdays 2009 event! Is there anything to see north of San Francisco?

It is not north of San Francisco but you ought to visit the Jelly Belly factory in Fairfield. Here is the address: 1 Jelly Belly Lane, Fairfield, CA 94533. We found it fascinating and you can always pick up some "belly flops".:D

Looking forward to seeing you there. We expect to arrive Thursday also, uncertain of the time at this point.

What type of things were you looking to do? Here's one idea...

You like trains? This is one of the best train museums in the US  http://www.csrmf.org/default.asp

It's in Old Sacramento which is a cool place to visit. http://www.oldsacramento.com/

According to Google Maps, Oakland is much closer to San Ramon. It's on the same side of the Bay. San Fran Int. is on the other side of the Bay. The difference would be the distance to cross the bay over the bridge and then some.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=oakland+airport&sll=37.756601,-121.812286&sspn=0.859911,2.005005&ie=UTF8&ll=37.64985,-122.238693&spn=0.208492,0.501251&t=h&z=12

You are correct the difference between a long drive from FSO through the city and off to the bay bridge or a couple freeways and many less miles to San Ramon.

Excellent ideas. Rose Mary, Our arrival time is also something of an unknown at this point. We gotta keep up with the idea of our screen name, so who knows... Yea, Lonnie has already found the Jelly Belly factory on the map, but the actual address is a bonus! Louie, Trains are a great idea, not to mention Old Sacramento is wonderful all by itself! Many thanks to you both.

Are you going to be driving in from the North? Our plans are to take the northern rout across to Spokane and then head south.:shifter: Expect to arrive Thursday, fairly early in the day. See you there!!

Preliminary plans having us arive from the east. Probably drifting south and visiting Yosemite on the way out, then drifting a bit north, but likely not making it to Oregon. As is normal, all plans are firm (until changed) :D Looking forward to seeing you there too

North of the city is Napa and Sonoma. If you like wine i would suggest Sonoma There is also Muir Woods if you enjoy some hiking and the redwoods. If you go up Rt 1 you can reach North coast brewing, the home of Red Seal Ale, Blue Heron and others. There also a lot of nice restaurants up there. You could go a bit east and end on the Stanislaus river where you can do some gold prospecting. The choices are endless but these are just a few suggestions.

How about the lobby at 6? Don't know the hotel, but they must have a lobby.
