Our rate was negotiated several months ago and contracts signed. At the time their rack rate was much higher ($124 pops into my head for some reason). I'm sure with the economy they've had to adjust their rates downward.

PS
We have a minimum number of rooms that we have to use over the long weekend. Please let them know you are with our group when you book the room.

Sunday's events are not in stone yet. In year's past we have done tech sessions and drives on Sunday.

I would take every opportunity to extend your trip. This is a great location with many great day trip possibilities!

It would be great if you could call back and get your room attached to our block of rooms at the hotel. As I said above - the Club is on the hook for a block of rooms and if they aren't used the Club will pay for them.

Thanks and sorry about the issues with the hotel.

We will be at S2KDays 2009 in California, driving from North Dakota. That makes us the first state with 100% of its membership attending. The challenge has been made to see how close you other states can come.:poke: Now we need to have someone keep an updated list posted for us to see who all will be in California for this prestigious event.

For those that would like a Sunday drive, we'll be doing a drive "through" the City and across the Golden Gate Bridge, and hit some nice Hwy 1 roads and stop at a beach in Marin County. It would be a fairly short day, and would be back early afternoon. Hey, I'm giving up my 49ers home opener tickets for this drive! It'll be nice to finally meet everyone! :)

That's odd. I was waiting for a while before booking in the hope that these things would get sorted out. I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer.
Is there any update about going back to the hotel for any further amendments to the negotiated deal? Does the rate include parking and internet, etc? Seems strange to have a car meet at a hotel that charges extra for parking.

It appears that $149.00 is their cheapest "regular" room rate as stated on the Mariott San Ramon website. I'm guessing that they gave Takeshi the "meet" rate for the meet dates and then they used their "regular" rate for the extra day.

I hope registration is going well now - some people were calling the hotel saying they were with the "Honda Club". I called them last week and made sure they updated thier system to include "Honda", "S2KCA", or S2KDays"...so everything should be ok there. I was previously told any extended stays will be at the same rate as the event. I'll call tomorrow to clear this up.

Please post if there are any other problems with the hotel. Thanks!

I have never had much luck with the "special rate" section of online registration with large hotels. They must be too corporate entrenched that the online system does not get updated in a timely manner. I usually make a call to the reservation desk and work with a live person.

If I remember correctly, I had some issues last year at Lake George for online registration. I canceled out of the online form and called in. The front desk/reservation people were very nice and helpful.

bimdub
07-25-2009, 02:59 AM
yeah I would call them as well.....just my experience....

as for the parking...

The parking rate is $7... it is contracted by another company, a gated area and we DO have our own section to park our cars.

We have a great reception area with TV's, sofas, etc on Friday AND Saturday from 7am to 11pm for people to gather. We have a cocktail reception w/appetizers on Friday from 6-9 pm on the patio.

this really is going to be a great event.....

well it doesn't look good, bills & our pay freeze will continue for a while

You could save a few bucks by skipping the rental. A taxi ride is suppose to be $85. If you share a cab to the hotel with someone and pay for your taxi back to the airport it would only be $127. That's a savings of $83. If you can coordinate two people to meet at the airport the savings are even greater.

Maybe you can recruit someone to take you to the airport on Sunday as well.

I'm headed to Mill Valley after the meet on Sunday, so I could certainly take someone to the airport on the way if they don't have too big a suitcase. My trunk is generally pretty full on a road trip in case I have to do a complete tear down on the car.

Alright, alright, so we are finally signed up. I hope I did it correctly for Mrs. GM3 when it came to her S2KCA membership number. I put mine and then "-spouse".

It is great that you will be there for the finale of your honeymoon. It is only fitting to have a honeymoon as part of S2KDays since we had a wedding at S2KDays in San Antonio. It was quite memoriable, Right Charles?

I just found her membership card and number today. Do I need to contact someone to get it changed to the correct number for registration?

I thought this was an S2000 meet, as in S2KCA, not NSXCA. My S is getting up there in mileage but I want to baby the NSX even more. It's Special.
