I just noticed the other day that when I depress my clutch pedal I get a squeak from outside the car - only audible when windows/top down.

There's a slight bit of friction at the bottom of the clutch pedal travel but this may or may not be related (I don't feel any specific tie between the two).

I was thinking of flushing and replacing the clutch fluid - think this will help?

Not a bad idea to bleed the clutch http://forums.s2kca.com/showthread.php?t=12154.

But it sounds more like your problem is here http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=370792.

Good luck.

Kevin - thanks for the reply. I've been reading threads on similar phenomena all day but nothing was exactly what I was experiencing - the one you sent me is exactly it.

I'm going to do this this weekend as it sounds like it will correct the only driveability issue I have with my S right now.

I think MLC has found the solution for you. It would have been one of the things that I was about to suggest. If it doesn't fix your sqeak, consider moving from the clutch pedal itself and on down to the slave cylinder. Squeaks of this can occur as follows:
- clutch pedal pivot point ............... lubricate as necessary.
- clutch master cylinder plunger rubbing against the cylinder wall ...................... replace master cylinder.
- slave cylinder plunger rubbing against the cylinder wall ...................... replace slave.
- what MLC has pointed out to you.
- poorly lubricated throw out bearing ...................... replace TO bearing.
- bleed clutch

Good luck.

Just a quick thanks for all the help on this. Today I completed the simple slave cylinder repair (referenced here: http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=370792) and did a clutch flush.

Let me first say that if you've never done the slave cylinder repair and your car has over 60k on it - you'd be very pleased with the results of this 15 minute job. If I'd known this is what my clutch was supposed to feel like I'd have done it a long time ago.

My 04 feels like a new car now. The entire clutch stroke is smooth and easy. (In fact, so smooth I thought I'd done something wrong at first!)

Thanks again for the help.

It is aways cool when a minor repair makes a big diference.
