I installed my autometer oil pressure and vac/ boost gauge today and the oil pressure doesn't work.It comes on cause the needle moves slightly.I have the remote setup with the braided stainless cable so I figured it was a good ground.I grounded the unit on the ground lug under the dash. When I checked for continuity everything checks out.I didn't run a separate ground to the sender since I figured the stainless cable was plenty? The instructions say run a ground close to the sender? Do you think I have a faulty sensor or gauge? Help......
PS I ended up running the vac/boost gauge off the wiper fuse,it wouldn't work in the easy spot.

I had to replace my Autometer oil pressure sender because it sprung a leak. When I was at the shop, the guy told me that those senders are very poorly made. Leakage and just plain quitting is so common that they stocked just the senders. Mine is also on a steel cable tube and there's never been a problem with ground.
You might want to check to make sure the wire coming from it is well secured and trace it to the gauge to make sure there's no pinch point or frayed area (short). Failing this, you might want to get a new sender. Let them know which model of Autometer you have so they give you the right sender.

I checked my connections and they are correct and working.I did discover that I plumbed it wrong.I used 1/8" npt fittings instead of 1/8" bsp adapters,uh oh.Fortunately I did not overtighten and used brass so those were the threads that were messed up.It looks like some tefon tape may have clogged the steel braided line since oil did not flow out when I removed it.I'm waiting for the correct adapter to try again in the mean time the stock sender setup is back together.I found this great part Dave to add to your arsenal for just this purpose. The folks there were great and offered to send it US mail to save shipping.Might help someone in the future.I'll let you know how I progress next week and once again thanks for your help.
