Hey Guys!

I'm wanting to install an LED strip in my trunk to replace the existing trunk light. Does anybody know if it is possible to wire them to the existing trunk light wires so that the LED's come on when I open the trunk? I'm assuming that I could just splice into the factory wires, but I'm not cutting anything in my car under an assumption! LoL

I know we have a lot of talented people on this forum so I wanted to seek some advise first.

These are the LED strips that I am thinking about.

I can't answer that but I've been very happy with a "circuit board LED" (6 bright LED's on a board that come with several different adapters to fit the stock sockets) that I used in the trunk (and for the dome & license plate):

The lighting is very good though I bet a strip of LED's would light the trunk a bit more evenly.

it depends how much light you are looking for, his may be the easiest way to go

I currently use the LED strips from Oznium myself, but for daytime running lights. They can easily be spliced into existing car wiring without any modification. Some LEDs require additional resisters, etc, but the Oznium ones meant for cars are ready to go. Those LED strips are quite directional, meaning they are the brightest when viewed head-on. To iluminate a trunk, you may have to point them into the areas you wan't lit, but there will still be dark spots.

Here's my DRLs with the Oznium strips and the J's Daylights:

I've disabled my trunk light and installed 2 of these LED push lights. I rarely need light in my trunk and when I do, I use these. They run on "AA" cells.

As always, good advice here. Thanks guys!

I'm really just looking for an effect more than anything. I have a custom sub enclosure and I painted it Laguna Blue to match my car, so I figured a little bit of a blue hue coming from the trunk when I open it would look pretty sweet. Maybe get a couple of strips from Oznium and that should do the trick.

Anything special I should know before I go splicing the wires or is it pretty much straight forward like any splicing job?

These are low current draw lights. Just splice them in but make sure you know which is + and -. Getting them reveresed won't damage anything, just makes you wonder what's wrong.
