powertrain is.... sensors and other related items...
a head gasket is not powertrain related.

A headgasket is P/T

Sorry...
just looked it up at work...

HG is 5/60 for power train

Are you sure? Powertrain includes the engine itself. A blown headgasket is part of the engine.

My S2000 would absolutely be covered by Honda if a headgasket blew!

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "oil build up"? You must provide details to get a proper response. Can you tell if there is an original of the oil? Does it seem to come from above? Is the oil plentiful enough to actually create a drop? Have you measured the oil consumption and what might it be? Where exactly is this oil? A head gasket goes all the way around the head and block. Is the oil all the way around the head/block or is it concentrated in one particular location? Is it more on the head or more on the block?
As you can see, a better question will provide a better answer.
And yes, a HG would be covered under warranty, but, at this point, you don't know if the oil is coming through the HG.

BTW, it might not seem important at the moment, but info about year, mileage and any mods on the car would also be of value.

We have seen reports of porous heads, where oil will leach through the metal of the head and create a blotch. However, without details, nobody can say if it's this or a valve cover gasket that's leaking oil that pools to the lowest point or if it is indeed a seeping head gasket. It might even be minor spillage from filling that has accumulated over many, many months.
Details, details, details!

A little oil blotch happened to me, so I tighened up the Allen bolts (ever so slighly) and I haven't seen any sign of oil
