We've been working very hard to get the dates of S2KDays '09 finalized. As with anything there was no way to avoid potential conflicts with everything that might be going on during any given weekend - so, we apologize now if there are any conflicts with the date!

We can confirm that the official dates for S2KDays '09 are September 17-20, 2009!

We can also confirm that the HQ hotel for the event will be the Marriott San Ramon in northern California!

The planning team which is headed up by LouieV are now hard at work planning drives and other outings for the event. If you have suggestions or would like to help out in any way, please reach out to Lou.

Please mark your calendar now for this great event. We hope to make this the biggest and best S2KDays yet. This event will mark the 10-year anniversary of the S2000 almost to the day! We are very excited about that!

See you all in California!!!

I wasn't complaining, just pointing it out. I know that scheduling sometimes gets to be real difficult and its oftentimes impossible to accomodate everyone.

I won't be at S2KCADays '09 but I hope it's the biggest and best one yet. I hope everyone has a great time, and I hope to hear all of the stories and see all of the photos.

If possible I will be at the 2010 event.

Sorry you can't make it next year - I enjoyed meeting you in Lake George!

I plan on attending. Should we make our reservarions now or wait until a group room rate is created?

We will have details on room reservations shortly (I hope). Stay tuned!

I hope everyone takes some extra days out there as well - beautiful country with loads to do!

It's a homecoming for me of sorts. Graduated from Foothill High School in Pleasanton, right down the road.

Any plans for a track event?

meat
11-06-2008, 08:39 PM
There are no current plans for a track event - doesn't mean that can't change. There is a go-kart track being built nearby and that could also be an option (assuming it is completed in time).

Me too, I am a big ? now, but that how it has gone the last 2 years. For me it is bidding my leave so early the year before.

But I know that again this will be a first class event and I will try to change my leave or work something out.

Last one was in Lake George, N.Y. in late Sept. Beautiful weather. All the fall colors were out. That's why they do it at that time of year. Great scenery, great weather and with the tourist season over, hotels and motel rates are back down. I flew to L. George but I'll drive to San Fran.
San Francisco is NEVER "winterish". It's waaaay further south than Lake George.

San Ramon is one town away from where my daughter lives and the bay area is one of my favorite parts of the country, so I hope to be able to make it.

I'd like to figure out if 6 or 8 people could get together on shipping their cars from some point in the Northeast what the shared cost would be for some sort of a car transporter. It would be a really long drive both ways.

Yikes!:yikes: I think even car dealers pay well over $1K per car to ship cross country and they get the bulk discount.

I'm sure the organizers will clarify the hotel before registration begins. It's still a year away. Too early to be booking anything now anyway. As Chris says, there's only one Marriott San Ramon. The others have attachments to their names.

We will plan on driving from North Dakota ;) and that appears to be about 1872 miles each way. Cannot break a perfect record.

Good Lord, Rose. I thought my distance was far. I'm planning to drive but if fuel prices skyrocket like they did this past year, it might be far more sensible to fly. For me, that's 10 tanks of fuel round trip and that's not even counting sight seeing miles.

Gee, we could link up in Butte Montana and caravan in from there.

1680 miles here.....Which I guess is really not that bad since I would get to see the Grand Canyon and some other cool Sh** along the way. I guess I would be a fun road trip after all.

OK. It's on our calendar too. Roughly 1630 miles, depending on sight seeing along the way. Return trip will be longer due to intermediate stop in Fresno...

The Reno Air Races are that same weekend too...

Just typing out loud here.

I'd recommend one of the latter if you have a choice (though my last time through SFO wasn't that bad).

SFO isn't that bad now. I have been through there several time lately and had no problems.

Chris S
11-11-2008, 11:21 PM
I've been told that the risk w/ SFO is that flight schedules are more subject to being altered by Mother Nature than, for instance, San Jose.

Oakland looks like it will be the closest airport to fly into.

Donovan386
11-18-2008, 07:09 AM
Depending on which airline you fly in on, be sure to check the cost of flying into each airport. I noticed that the costs can vary GREATLY from airport to airport. I fly southwest (the "public transportation" of the sky  ) and it is less than half the cost to fly into SFO than it is San Jose or Oakland! My wife and I are flying home to Austin for X-mas and when we looked for tickets, it was $1400 to fly via San Jose and less than $600 to fly out of SFO roundtrip.
