The buzz is just a noise. Nothing more nothing less. It has absolutely no adverse affects on the mechanical function of the clutch. When engine braking, the backlash in the transmission creates a vibration that travels forward into the clutch disc where the disc springs begin to also vibrate. It's this vibration that you hear. Honda made a revised clutch disc with springs that don't make such an audible sound.

My year 2000 model makes a terrible vibration noise when decelerating, particularly in a higher gear, as the car slows and the revs get decrease. The dealer said the noise was normal. I've heard that the later model transmissions were improved in this regard. Maybe it's the same clutch problem mentioned above. Any help appreciated.

I'm not sure what help you need. Did you not read my last post? It answers and covers everything that concerns you.

As was said the noise is normal. Do you have the original clutch in the car? I have a MY00 with the original clutch and if you are decelerating and the RPM's are between 4500 and 3500 it is very noticeible. There is nothing mechanically wrong with the car.

Just one of it's "special" qualities of the car. I actually kind of like it, it is almost like the car is "talking" to me.

IMO the harder you are on the clutch (clutch dumps, brisk engagement during shifts, ect) the more it will buzzz as time goes by.
Even the newest, latest OEM clutch disk.
As mentioned: it is not harmfull so don't start driving the car like a granny

I'm using a MY05 engine & trans with an ACT PP, Comptech FW and OEM clutch disk and lately it is "buzzing like a fridge" (Radiohead quote ;) ) during decel.
