i did a quick search through this forum and i didnt find anything where it specified the correct offset needed for an aftermarket rim for the s2k.

I'm looking to buy a set of 18" rims... i've noticed it's hard to find a rim to fit the s2k...

what is the correct offset needed? i've seen people with +49 +51 etc...

also im looking for an 18" rim, can anybody direct me manufacturers that have rim fitment for the s2k? i'm not looking to spend a fortune..

thank you

If you can wait until tomorrow, I'll have the full amount of info for you.

I swear we had the correct offsets somewhere on the forums here, but I can't find them either. I'll poke around and see if I can find them...

But you can do yourself a favor and just go with the Mugen wheels...they fit and are the best looking. :D

I'll post if I find them though...

Canadian,

You're going to have to provide some more info before I or anyone else can tell you whether the wheels will fit or not. This is the kind of thing where it gets really involved in the written format.

Off the top of my head, there's only one wheel that will fit the S2000 off-the-shelf. They are the Work Meister S2Rs. They come in 18x8 with 51+ offset and 18x9 62+ offset. They look great. Pics are available at www.scienceofspeed.com.

As a general rule you're going to want at least 50+ in the fronts and 60+ in the rears to get good fitment assuming you'll be running the ever so popular 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 series tires on your typical 8" to 9" wide wheels.

The best solution to all this is to buy custom fitted wheels from Fikse, Kinese, HRE. Otherwise, you are looking at a very limited selection.

Be weary of Tirerack's recommendations of what good fitment is for the S2000. It's amazing to me how these sales experts know so very little, so not SME (subject matter expert).

Cheers,
Ben

thank you for the info Ben, but i'm afraid my budget wont allow me to spend the $$ needed to buy either the Work Meister or any other custom fitted rims such as HRE :(

i guess i will stick with my stockers and perhaps get them powder coated black or titanium color.. or something.. i just dont like riding on stock rims. Rims is the best way to set your ride apart and it looks like i am **** out of luck then.

Volk CE28n's come up available quite often and are fairly affordable.

If you want to really set yourself apart from the rest, take a look at Benjamin Choi's for sale thread....he's selling some LM22's. I think those are the hottests wheels for many cars (M3's, Audi's, some Honda's, Nissans, etc.) I do find them to be second best for the S2000 though....I'm a full supporter of the Mugen wheels as top choice.

Just an FYI, my car (mine's the faster, black one):

...one more for summer memories (btw, that bumper and splitter no longer exist, it's a J's front end now):

Your car is a definite head turner, Urmil.

And I consider the MF-10s as the best 17" wheels for the S2000. The only thing that hurts me is that I drive a silver car and I'm not one of those dudes who likes the whole silver/bronze combo (clashes). They're forged and come in good offsets. Definitely a unique look with a prestigious brand name to justify its cost. With that said, it's a design that's helped out a great deal by having the Mugen name stamped on it. Imagine if Konig put out the same wheel. Everyone would call it Spiderman. :lol2:

The wheels I'm selling, but am leaning on keeping for the life of the car, are 18" BBS LMs. And it is probably priced out of Canadian's budget at this point in time. The LMs are arguably the best looking, designed sports car wheels ever made. And I don't think I'm even hyping it up.

Canadian, what I recommend that you do is don't go wasting money on powder coating stock wheels. You're not fooling anyone but yourself. Instead, be resourceful and keep an eye on the For Sale and Wanted thread on s2ki.com. You'd be amazed at some of the good stuff that pops up now and then in that forum. I knew a dude who was letting go of brand new Work Meister S2Rs for $1600 when they regularly go for $2300 from a sponsor. So with your run-of-the-mill tires (e.g. Yokohama ES-100s), you're looking at a brand spanking new set of bling wheels for ~$2000!

It's more affordable than you think. Just make sure you stick with a reputable brand. I personally wouldn't go with anything but Volk, BBS, OZ, Mugen, SSR, and Work. Else, stay stock.

I agree with Benjamin, the Works S2r have the perfect offset for the car. The offset for the rear is actually +63 and I have seen guys run up to 275/35/18 slammed to the ground and not rub. Volk CE28 in the 17" size is also a good choice with the same offset but you are looking for 18" wheels. Otherwise, most other 18" volk wheels come in 50 offsets and so do some of the racing harts. They will rub even at an 8.5" wide wheel.
