We do lots of biking, but I don't want to get a rack that straps on the trunk. Does anyone know of a 1 1/4 inch receiver hitch that would work for this car that would accommodate a bike rack or small trailer like motorcycles tow to use for weekend trips. Its impossible to get 2 sets of golf clubs and the wife's suitcase in the trunk. I have an Acura with a hitch that bolts up through the trunk floor. Just need something very light duty.
Thanks,
Rich O'Day

Welcome to the Club Rich! One of our local members, Charles, here in DFW has a nice setup for his bike rack that uses a hitch. If he dosn't chime in soon you might send him (screen name is Cman) a private message). We also have a number of members that have hitches for small tire/track trailers that might have some ideas.

Hi Rich,

I'm very much in to cycling too and am using the Chase Race hitch (http://www.chaserace.com/s2k.php) with a Saris bike rack. I've got some pictures of my setup on Picasa. Here's the link:

Take a look and let me know if you have any questions. I'm really happy with the setup. It attaches to the transmission cross member (I think that is what it's called) and the bumper. It's also removable.

+1 for the chase race hitch. I use it for towing a light trailer for racing tires, and equipment. But it would work perfectly for what your looking to do too. Its a bit pricey compared to some of the other ones out there, but this one requires no modification to your car, its a bolt and go type of hitch, and its very well built. Takes about 1 hour to install. Well it did for me :D Comes with everything you need. Doug the owner will also sell you a very nice light harness if you want to hook up to a trailer for an extra 25 bucks. Hope this helps.

How easy is the Chase Race hitch to put on and take off? I'd like to not have a hitch showing when I'm not carrying my bicycle.
