What is up? I am n00b to this forum and would like to ask a question.

My dad owns a 2001 S2k. The only mod he has is a Injen cold air intake that we bought him for his birthday.

He has been doing some research on the Comptec and Vortec Supercharger kit and wants to know if he should by a supercharger.

I told him that if he wants the maxim HP he should go turbo.

Here are my questions:

Which one is better for the S2k turbo or supercharger?

What 1/4 times will you get with turbo or supercharger?

How many WHP does the S2k get from the Comptec or Vortec supercharger?

I have done some research on the turbo and found this:

I was very impress with this setup...

Any help is much appreciated!!!!!

Thanks.

That's a large wing you got there! ;)

This is true of almost every car made.

Which one is better for the S2k turbo or supercharger?
Both represent a compromise to the engine's durability. The superchargers are a better value; as they are more or less complete kits. Turbos require a lot more work on installation and considerable tuning to get them to run right. I'd favor the supercharger because you'll spend less time in the shop and more time driving.

What 1/4 times will you get with turbo or supercharger?
Not positive, but the good drivers' SC times were mostly high 12s if memory serves. Turbo times will be a bit lower. Still not a good drag car - the power is still up high and requires some hard launches.

How many WHP does the S2k get from the Comptec or Vortec supercharger?
about 300 - a 50% increase over the ~200 that most stock S2000s lay down. The aftercooled Vortech will give a bit more than the Comptech,

I was very impress with this setup...
Ultimate Racing's turbo has been out for a while. Still not turnkey, but better than most. Expect an $8000-10000 bill to get it done right.

everything he told you is good advice. The nature of a centrifugal charger makes a good complement to you motor. It's easy to break the overall engineering envelope of the car if you get much more than 300-320rwhp to the rear wheels. You should upgrade your clutch as well.
You don't launch with boost, you don't need to but if you're going to play hard, I recommend comptech's hardened differential setup as well.

I highly recommend you use a professional installer. Both Vortech and Comptech offer complete kits.

good luck
