VGS Steering Wheel

This is a strange question. I have a 2002 Honda S2000. I purchased a Honda VGS steering wheel from a person in Canada. This is an optional wheel in the S2000 Honda brochure in Japan. Everything bolted on to the wheel, cruise, air bag and horn parts etc. When I tried to install it the splines are different. I looked in the USA parts catalog and the steering column is the same 2000-2002, part # 53200-S2A-003. I am trying to find out if for some strange reason the Japanese S2000 uses a different steering column with a different spline. Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated as I have an expensive steering wheel that I can't use. I at least have to figure out what it will fit if I try to resell it.

Scott, as I recall, this wheel isn't compatible with the USDM cars. I seem to recall that after our trip to Japan, people saw pictures of it and looked into getting it installed and it was determined that the wheel was not compaible, exactly for the reasons that you specified - incorrect boss or splines, something like that.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but seems to me the only way to make it fit is to manufacture your own connection method. Honda did this on purpose, as I recall, to prevent this swap. If anyone has any more current info, please post. I'm going on info that is admittedly a couple of years old - something may have come out to make it fit, but I kind of doubt it. It would be cost prohibitive, IMO...

Does anyone know exactly what Honda cars it might fit? If I get stuck with it I will need to advertise it, maybe I'll have to send it to Japan.

I'm pretty sure the column and spline is made only for the vgs s2000 and wheel.

Yea, I think this is the case, too. Unfortunately I think you are stuck with it if you want to find another car domestically that it will fit on.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it?
