Recently, i noticed a scrape when I would hit a sharp dip or bump. I sounded like it was coming from the left rear. I jacked the car up and could find nothing in the suspension area that seemed out of place.

About one week later I had Eibach Pro Set installed which lowered the car by about 1 inch.
The scraping noise became more pronounced.
Yesterday, the mystery was solved. I found that my rear tires are hitting the edge of the quarter panels on both sides when I take a hard turn or hit a bump. On level surfaces I have no problem.

I am getting new tires put on next week and will also have a 4 wheel alignment.

I am running Raze wheels with offfsets:
Front 42
Rear 48
Tires are Khumo MX
Front tires are 225 45 17
Rear 255 40 17

The new tires will be Falken 452s.

Before I go to the expense of rolling my fenders, is there anything that can be done in the alignment that will alleviate the problem?

Any help would be very much appreciated. :)

a little more negative camber may take care of things. how wide are your wheels? +48 is kind of low on a lowered car.

My wheels are 9" with a +45, and won't rub only due to having -2 degrees of camber and rolled fenders (not to mention 245 tires)

I'm what some consider "slammed", though

edit: er... by high, I meant low

thanks for catching that one

Try a higher camber. This might reduce the rubbing but will aggravate the uneven tire wear. Insofar as offset, +48 is actually too small. You want high offset like +65 or even +70 on the rear. This would tuck your tires into the centerline of the car and away from the fender lip. I think it's this low offset that is causing you the problems you're having. With such low offset rims, adjusting camber might be your only option next to rolling fenders.
You could also get low aspect ratio tires, but those tiny sidewalls might make your car look really funny.
Those rim offsets on those tires were about the limit of what you could get away with on stock ride height. When you lowered the car, it was just too much. I'm very surprised that you aren't grinding off the splashshield fastener at the top of each front wheel well. This is pretty common with 225 tires on Volk rims (of the proper offset) on stock ride height. I'm talking about Volk rims with +53 offset in the front. Your +42 should have been rubbing by now when you turn hard to the right and going up a slight rise. Check the top plastic fastener on the front left wheel well.

Thanks guys. Will going back to OEM wheels cure the problem?

If so, I'll be putting my Raze wheels up for sale.

I believe there is a very good chance that the high offset of the OEM rims will take care of this problem. My friend has a slammed car with Volk rims (similar to OEM offsets but a bit wider) and stock sizing of tires, stock alignment and he never rubs. You've got 10mm wider tires, but that's only 5mm on the outside more than the stock size. I doubt 5mm more on the tire won't make much difference. If only your rims were +55 front and +65 rear, you would have been fine when you lowered. Oh well, hindsight and all.

I didnt read what everyone replied, but I'm sure they are saying the same............when you get new ties you could drop down to a 245 in the rear. That might take care of it in itself. If not add a little more negatve camber in the rear or just go to the UK alignment specs.

Give this a try. You might be able to keep the rims.

Can someone please explain the +XX offset. I was looking at getting a set of Konigs but the offset doesnt match the car. What does this mean?

If the ride height is adjustable, raise it up an half inch or inch.
