on my top on the right side there is a spot that is alsmost worn through by the latch from rubbing. i'd like to put a patch on the back side to reinforce the area and to prevent it from wearing all the way through but i haven't been able to find any kind of a kit or anything like that. does anyone know if there is some sort of a patching kit available? if not i suppose i could use a piece of vinyl (or "sport cloth") similar to what the roof is made of and some high temp contact cement.

Use any good fabric glue. put a patch on both sides. I used some black sunbrella polyester.

get some heavy duty black string and sew up the outside, thats what i did. then i glued a soft patch on the inside where the latch touches the top on both side so it wouldnt happen again. the stiching from the string takes care of waterproofing tho, and you can hardly even see it

Chech with your Honda parts dept. I seem to recall Honda has a repair kit.

I reinforced a repair with a kit from a boating supply store. It came with a vinyl patch and some adhesive. At first it didn't seem like it was sticking, but after letting it cure overnight, it is still holding strong a year later.
