Yeah yeah I know. Billionth post. I haven't seen an S200 with the wheels yet and most people prefer 17's, so I think I can create a new post.

I'm trying to decide between 2 Wheels.

Volk RE30 or Volk GT-V (preferred)

I just don't know what offset to run.

On the Volk RE30 I plan on running 18X8 in the front with 225/40-18 RE-01R's.

My offset choices are 33,38,44 for off the shelf Wheels. I'd need custom otherwise.

On the Rear I'd like to 9.5" wide but that doesn't look like a possibility.

So my choice is 18X9 with offsets of 35 and 40. Speculating I could run 9.5" in the rear offsets are 35, 40, 42, & 47. Rear tires will be 255/35-18 RE-01R's.

Now for my preferred choice of the Volk GT-V's 18X8 in the front my offset choices are 40, 43, & 46. If I recall anything in the 30's was too low.

My only choice is 18X9 in the rear. Offsets available are 40,43, 46 & 49.

Help me! I'd rather go with th GT-V's since the're a good $100 less per wheel and the style is more my taste. But I need help on the offsets. I've had bad luck in the past, except for some OZ ultraleggra's but I never really liked the style of the wheel.

Volk RE30 (I'd go with the brighter finish on my Black S)

Volk GT-V (I'd choose the Titanium GM)

I am running 17x8 +45 front and 17x9 +45 rear

I am lowered about 2", running -0.8 camber in the front and -2.1 camber in the rear

I use 225/45/17 in the front and 245/40/17 in the rear

My rear fenders are rolled

I don't have any rubbing issues, but I'm cutting it real close- my front fender liners are beaten up pretty badly

Scott, if you're at stock height you should be fine on front if you run with the highest offset (might stick out a bit) but the rears are going to be problematic, I think. 9" wide with a +40 offset is pretty tough on this car and you're running wider tires as well. I think most guys with that setup are either heavily cambered or else running much narrower tires (235 width). Fender rolling is also an option, I guess.

Any reason you're going with 18s over 17s? The RE30 come in excellent offsets (+55/+63, I believe) in 7.5 and 9 in wide wheels, perfect for the S2000, if you get them in 17s. Lighter, too, and much cheaper tires.

+63, +64 is ideal for the rear.

I have a +55 and it limits the size tire I can put on the back. Fender rolling is in the near future for me

the GT-V is a great looking wheel, just not the right offset for our cars

Work wheels seem to be available with the better offsets for our cars.,

Are you lowered? Unless you want to do some work fender rolling and running some negative camber , your simplest option is to run 215/40/18 up front and 245/35/18 rear.

According to Evasive Motorsports thread on S2ki........for 18's in RE30
http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=533372
18x7.5 +50
18x8.5 +47

I did a search, and this is a set of GTV's someone had for sale and the sizes

18x7.5 +49
18x8 +49

For the front:
6.5” to 7.5” wide wheel: 205 tires: +43 offset minimum
7.0” to 8.0” wide wheel: 215 tires: +48 offset minimum
7.0” to 8.0” wide wheel: 225 tires: +53 offset minimum
7.5” to 8.5” wide wheel: 235 tires: +58 offset minimum
7.5” to 8.5” wide wheel: 245 tires: +63 offset minimum

For the rear:
7.5” to 8.5” wide wheel: 235 tires: +40 offset minimum
7.5” to 9.0” wide wheel: 245 tires: +45 offset minimum
8.0” to 9.5” wide wheel: 255 tires: +50 offset minimum
8.5” to 9.5” wide wheel: 265 tires: +55 offset minimum
9.0” to 10.0” wide wheel: 275 tires: +60 offset minimum
9.0” to 10.0” wide wheel: 285 tires: +65 offset minimum

Here's a tool you can buy that will measure maximum offset and tire size taking the guess work out:

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=PHP%2D01201&N=700+115&autoview=sku

The problem with 17's if you want to go WIDE is that you have to increase diameter, unlike available 18" wheels. You could change rear gear ratio to counter that with 17's though. $$$$

Whew! Thanks Fellas! I ordered some F 18X7.5 49mm offset & R 18X9 49mm offset Volk GTV's from our Vendor along with 225/40-18 & 255/35-18 RE-01R's. Also grabbed some assorted spacers just in case.

I was considering lowering it, but I've learned it's so easy to mess up the balance of the OEM suspension...

Look forward to seeing this come together in May when my car comes in!

It also looks like I'l be doing a write up on how to disable the OEM TPMS system since these wheels are incompatible with the TPMS sensors.

49 with those size tires should be very safe on stock suspension

Wheel spacers will only decrease offset. If anything, you can benefit from increasing the offset. Unless you have another reason for using them (like clearing brake calipers), you shouldn't be using spacers.

Thanks! I got them thrown in, just having them as a precaution. But thanks for advising...

Watch out with the Spacers. If they are not hub/lug centric you will more then likely gety s light vibration. Also it decreases the amount your lugs will grab and hold the studs.

Thanks. I'm hoping I'm safe with those offsets. I'm reading some people are running as high as 53 in the front and 63(!)in the back on wheels the same size as mine. 18X8F, 18X9R.

To reiterate, I'm 18X8+49, and 18X9+49....255's in the rear, stock ride height. I should be okay right?

You'll be fine with those UNLESS you decide to lower the car. Then, you "might" have some issues.
Insofar as running "as high as 53 and 63", you WANT high offset on this car. Low offset is when you start to get into problems.

Nope. I've ridden in too many Lowered S's. Not gonna do it. I'm back to having only ONE car so it has to be a jack of all trades. Plus my dad has to be willing to trade cars with me once in a while. If it's as low and rides as hard as his Elise, there's no way he'll swap with me over the weekends.
