So I bought a used '06 S2000, and it didn't come with any key fobs. I'm not sure if it has an alarm..it hasn't beeped at me yet, but then again it may just never be armed. Is there any way I can tell if the car came with an alarm? I called several dealerships and I was told several times that S2000's didn't come with Alarms and the VIN check wouldn't show anything..

I know the standard fob works, but if it has an alarm, I'd rather get the proper fob and actually be able to use the alarm.

The Honda alarm is only a dealer option, not a factory option. Without the key fob, you will have to look for it. If the dealer installed it there will be a small black button on the lower trim under the steering wheel. The alarm unit itself is a black box under the drivers seat. Without the proper key fobs, I don't know how you would ever make it operate though. They are coded to that alarm unit.

If it does have a Honda alarm you record the code for the alarm fob the same way you do the regular key fob. I think the insturctions are somewhere in the car's user manual.

Look under the drivers seat and see if there's a module. You should also see a valet button below the start button.

The dead give away for the Honda alarm would be to look under the driver's seat. Also, the little blinking light somewhere on the center console is a clue. Of course, if you have no fob and can't arm it, it won't be blinking.

The other give away is a blinking LED in the cluster on AP2 Instrument Panels. Self arming when the vehicle is locked.

Programming the Remote is not in the Owner's manual.

If the Car has the OEM Radio in it the procedure is as follows:

1. With the Key in the ignition, turn the key position to ON
2. Press "Unlock" on the Remote
3. Turn the Key to "Off" Position
Repeat until the lock acutator Clicks
Leave the Key in the "On" Position & Press the "Lock" Button on the remote
Turn the Key to "Off"

on that thought tho...
when u click the lock button once, it locks everything.
when u click it twice, the car beeps...

does it do anything else like arm it or something? its not the alarm im talking about just the lock function on the keyfob... sorry if its vague but im a dummy when it comes to these things lol.

No if it's a Genuine alarm system pressing the lock button twice will most likely set off the Alarm. One Press light flash, horn honks, doors lock.

Honda Keyless entry (stock) does nothing but lock and unlock the doors, trunk. and the useless "panic" feature. But the immobilizer is active once the key is removed from the ignition, regardless of your doors being locked/unlocked.

does that answer your question?

the useless "panic" feature.
"Almost" useless ........................ The wife and I lost our Honda Fit once in a parking lot. Couldn't remember which isle it was parked in. If it wasn't for that panic feature, we may still be camped out in that parking lot today.

I wouldn't say the range is useless. The range on it is pretty darn good. When I first got the car, I tested the range. I had a good line of sight on the car and walked almost the length of a football field before I couldn't get a signal.

And I don't know about the Honda alarm not being genuine or not. I read that the alarm has several sensor that would trigger it... hood sensors, glass sensors... etc. The first press locks the doors and the second press arms the alarm (honk). Its not easy to make it go off, you have to literally jar the car with a little force for it to upset the alarm but it does honk... and loudly.
