I just changed the fluid out for Valvoline 75w-90 full synthetic"SYN power" . Now after i have read a post earlyer today i am kinda worried because i have noticed the same wine at 68mph under slight load the dealer called for straight 90w.
Needless to say im changing it tomorrow just need some suggestions on the BEST oil for the diff please

I like LE-607. I've been very happy with it. I have a little whine, but I'm running 4.56s and there is a whine normally associated with those.

I agree. I have the 4.56 and I am running LE607.
Might want to check on the replacement for 607. LE just reformulated.

I also just put in the LE-607, stock diff. That stuff looks like grape syrup!

Here is a great oil to use. I use 70% Lucas 80 90 W and 30% Lucas stabilizer.
http://forums.s2kca.com/photopost/data/500/medium/stock_diff_4_44_shipping_1.jpg
The stabilizer has an anti shock additive and helps keep the oil stable at 90 W The stabilizer is very thick and aids in keeping a noisy gear box quiet. If you run 4.57 gears use a 60/40 mix
The LE stuff is some realy great stuff but, the Lucas is a little less money and easy to find local.

I'll throw out 1 vote for Mobil1 75W90 in the silver bottle.
I have put this stuff to the ultimate test in many s2ks including mine. Even after 35k miles, hundreds of drifting clutch dumps, autoX, and two track days, the stuff comes out like the day I put it in.
LE607 appears to protect just as well. But Mobil1 is available on most shelves :)

Depends on what the lowest temperature is in your area: LE 1605 (replacement for LE 607) is good down to -2F. Valvoline is good to -40F and Mobil to -42F.
Yup, Amsoil 75W110 is another one to look at. It's almost as thick as LE1605 at operating temp and it has a lower pour point (good @ -45F outside temp) than the Valvoline or the Mobil. Hmmmmm.
Example of calc (per Trapper): Valvoline has a pour point of -45C, which is -49F. Adding 9 makes that good to -40F. http://forums.s2kca.com/showthread.php?t=19335&page=2

As long as that Valvoline is a GL-5, it'll be just fine. However, if you have gear whine, then a thicker fluid like the LE product of a thicker multgrade might be worth a try.
Like many, many other S2000 owners, I've only ever had Mobil 1 75W90 in mine (except for a one time experiment I did for someone). I might experiment again next season.

before switching to LE-607, I've had the Mobil 1 in there for about 35k and when I drained it, it was very clear and only very little metallic "dust" on the drain plug. I agree that Mobil 1 is a good "default" lube because of already said reasons, it's available everywhere!
good luck!

I will add AMSOIL 80W90 to the list.
When i first got my car, under u-turns, the rear end would bind and make clunking noises with the factory fluid. @ 10,000kms I changed the factory fluid out to Amsoil 80W90 and had better results. The rear diff binding and clunk noises never came back.....so im still using it now. Hard autocrosing and lapping days, its still good!

This is what I'm using now but as soon as the last two bottles are gone, I'm going to try the Redline 85W 145. Why? I don't know.......cause it's there?
In any event, the Lucas mix is first rate in my book.

I guess you mean the 80W140. It's on the thin side for a 140 (26 cST), but definitely thicker than Honda's spec (http://www.lubrizol.com/products/automotive-gear-oil/J306.asp). Will be curious how well that works.

Can you lose the Lucas mix in the winter? What is the minimum temp?

I think I'd stay clear of the Lucas. I usually search 'bob is the oil guy' a bit before trying anything. Folks there don't have anything positive to say about it. Here's (http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=890207&fpart=1) a discussion after it was sent out for analysis.

I went to the sight but, I was not able to find anything that bad. As a gear box oil additive I have had very good luck.

...and those are the reasons I like Mobil 1 as well.....for less than $10.
I second that motion.

p.s. Thank you for not spelling it "mobile"

Sorry wrong link. :duh:
This (http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=890207&fpart=1) is the right link. There's a used oil analysis there, and LOS is just a oil thickener.
