This problem seems to be getting worse. I can duplicate the problem on demand, and would like to know what it is before I take it back to the dealership. When at idle, if I rev the engine slightly with the a/c on, then engine goes down to around 700 - 800 rpm and feels like it's going to stall, but then goes back up to 1000 rpm and is stable. Anyone else experience this?

Try your TPS sensor

Anyone else? I'm taking my car in this Friday for service, so I'd like to get this and the spark plug TSB done (I'll wait on the clutch another year).

I get it all the time.....and like you I can recreate it on demand. This is especially apparent on hot and humid days.

I assumed that my fix would occur once I switched out the thermostat and fan switch with modded ones, ad changed out my coolant with "performance" coolant (it's just coolant with a bit of watter wetter in it).

I was also planning on doing an upgrade on the fan with a dual fan by TFan, and a radiator block by Fluidyne.

Let me know what the dealer does for you.

Urmil, are you running an aftermarket intake?

Stumbling at idle was the first symptom of my burnt valve problem. You can read the saga in my earlier post. But the next symptom was stalling at idle. I would have the shop do a leak up test just to be sure.

I have about 3600 miles on my '03. I am beginning to have a similiar problem. The car will go to 700 or so RPM then recover to normal idle. I associate this with the fact that it is just so darn HOT here in SoCal. I can't believe I've smoked a valve already? It seems ok in cool air.
I sure would like to find some higher Octane fuel, so it would run cooler........
Any help in this regard would be appreciated...........

I later installed the AEM cold air intake and the problem went away.

For higher octane fuel you need only call Unocal 800 345 0076. I think in Southern Cal there are a few stations that dispense 100 octane unleaded.
