04 Door Panels

I have a 2001 AP1 and I wanted to replace my black door panels with black/Red 04-06 ones with the extra storage bin at the bottom. Will this swap in correctly?:think:

You should wait for a response from someone who has actually done this to be sure. The actual doors themselves haven't changed over the years, so I would expect the locating pins are in the same places. Thus, the door panels should be interchangeable from year to year. However, the electrical (door locks, window switches, speakers) harnesses, may or may not have changed.

The only thing extra is you have to buy the tweeter grills separately. I have a spare passengers side one if you want it. Otherwise you just transfer the switches from AP1 to AP2 panels.

Does the AP2 switch panel still have the same pin config as AP1?

I believe what Stratocaster was trying to say was that all wiring harnesses are the same from year to another. IE, "plug and play".

As for the tweeters, there is no mount in the panels without the tweeters grill. With the newer door panels, you can buy the kit that will allow you to mount tweeters. I recall from the wiring diagram, that the OEM tweeters are wired in "parallel" with the main door speakers. I didn't see a crossover.

You are correct. They are wired in parallel, but there is a cap mounted on the OEM tweeters to filter on lows out.

This is the only area that would need a mod. It you want to run OEM tweeters, and you want to do the install "Factory". You will need to replace wiring harnesses in both doors. I have a set if you are interested. :)

I have tweeters already, can I just run the wire to the Honda ones that are in the new door panel?

That is what I did. I have aftermarket tweeters, so I just mounted them in the 02 holders and wired them independantly.
