View Full Version : Clutch Fluid ??
I am getting ready to bleed the clutch. I purchased DOT3 brake fluid. When I got home I noticed that it is synthetic. Is all brake fluid synthetic and is this okay to put in the clutch?
I need some of that XViper wisdom!!
Thanks

It's fine. Go for it.

All fluid is not synthetic, however you can put in a synthetic fluid. I would recommend flushing out the old fluid thoroughly.

It'll be fine. It's the DOT rating that's important here. DOT 3 is recommended but DOT 4 is also acceptable. I've been using DOT 4 synthetic Valvoline brake fluid in both the brake and clutch systems for years.
Thanks. I did the bleed just the way you described it and it went fine. I took it for a test drive and the clutch felt much better.
Your checks may look wide but your knowledge is far wider!
Thanks for your help!!
