View Full Version : Replacement cat gasket

I recently purchased an Amuse exhaust which unfortunately did not come with a flat gasket that goes between the catalytic converter and the exhaust. The OEM part (as I am sure you all know) has a very nice crush gasket that doesn't work for the Amuse (why they wouldn't copy this feature on a $2500 exhaust is beyond me).
Anyone have suggestions on where to buy a gasket for this application?
Since this is in the exhaust, and would require something that will take the heat, I don't think that rolling my own is the best option.
Any help is appreciated.
Thx,
Bernman

The OEM is not actually a "gasket". It's a metal ring that mates perfectly between the rear of the cat and the front of the exhaust. After market exhausts don't have this same sort of coupling. They need one of these:

I would suggest you contact shops that would sell S2000 Cat Back exhausts and ask them to get you one.

I had the same problem installing my Invidia exhaust. I ended up buying this stuff from a local O'reilly's auto parts store: http://www.mr-gasket.com/ProductDetails.aspx?brandId=1&productID=9756389&majID=500&minID=5011&selection=16&minselection=4
Looks like cardboard, feels like cardboard, and you'd think there's no way it would ever work as an exhaust gasket, but it's been doing fine ever since I installed it. You just cut out the right shape and that's it.
I also used some liquid exhaust gasket a while back as a quick fix. Also did the job, but it was only for a few months.
