I don't know if this is the right place to ask.
I've been told that it's normal to see a bit of oil around the bypass valve of the CTSC. My question is how much oil is normal? Slightly greasy? How long does it take to get greasy again after a wipe down?

Waltk...your in the right place. Dave (Xviper, aka repiv) has a world of knowledge about the car. I'm sure he will be on shortly. Other members will also chime in to help you out.

waltk, I had a new Comptech supercharger and aftercooler installed on my '02 S last November. I soon was getting too much oil on the s/c intake and exhaust. I thought it was boost getting past the pvc valve and pushing oil vapors into s/c intake, so replaced it with a new OEM pvc valve and added an all metal pvc valve for a turbo Toyota in the hose to make sure that was not the source. Still had oiling problem. Then I had a oil/vapor recovery can installed between the crankcase vent and the elbow (tube) before the supercharger. Still had oiling problem. So my Honda Tech disconnected the intake tube from the supercharger, and I ran it up to 3,000 rpm. The supercharger was spitting little droplets of oil out its intake. I had the supercharger removed and sent it back to Paxton to have the internal oil seal replaced under warranty. The unit is back on my S, and I drove it in a tour (lots of Vtech) last Sunday. I suppose it has about 300 miles since the reinstall with no sign of oil yet. I will be driving the car up to the S2KDAYS '07 event in Belterra, IN from Arkansas and back. I will be keeping an eye out for any excess oil.

Jerome's experience with the Comptech is far greater than my own, since I have the Vortech. As in his case, once he eliminated the source of the oil as being from the PCV and front breather systems, he was able to narrow it down to the blower oiling system. Start with the simple stuff like the PCV and front breather by isolating those systems so they can't introduce oil into the blower intake. The PCV is a less likely candidate while the front breather leads directly to the pre-blower intake area.

I have the Krank Vents and they seem to do a good job. Some info can be found here.

I confirmed that it's an internal supercharger leak. I bought the Comptech kit new less than a year ago, and this is my second supercharger leak. Paxton took care of a leaky supercharger back in April. BTW, I'm running stock boost.

Hmmm, this has become a "not so rare" occurence with CT. So far, I've read about 1/2 dozen or more CT with this and maybe 1 or 2 VT.
Just curious ................ what kind of motor oil have you been using?

Mobil 1 10w30, changed every 4000 miles.

OK, that's good. I was wondering if you were one of these people who think the higher the performance the thicker the oil you need and was using 20W50 or something silly like this. Way too much pressure - enough to blow seals.

The blower's been rebuilt by Paxton, and it's back under the hood. I hope that's the end of my oil leak problems.

I have always used Mobil 1, 10-W30 weight in my CT S/C S2000.
