I did a search but no results.

I am running 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear.
Since there is no listing on the tires as to the recommended pressures, I am not sure how much to inflate. Of course, the label on the door relates to the OEM tire sizes.

Can anyone give me the numbers? I am planning a run to the Tail of the Dragon this week and tire pressure will be very important.

Thanks.

I keep about 34 in my tires

At the track with my 16" RA1's, I like 40 front / 38 rear - hot

I do 36 all around for city/highway driving, but drop down to 34 when I do group drives.

 Bat...I have been running 34 in mine, since I purchsed the new wheels & tires... Seems to work well for me. Ran the Wake, in the Spring with these pressures...34 all around...See you @ DBR......

batguano, I have the same size tires front and rear as you on my '02 with AP2 17" rims. On 3-4 March '07, I ran my supercharged S at Texas World Speedway in The Driver's Edge high speed school. I tried several different tire pressures and ended up with 33 psi front and 32 psi rear (cold). My car has stock suspension (21,000 miles) and has Bridgestone RE 050 PP tires. My car handled neutral on that 14-turn race course. I use the same tire pressures on the street. In the winter, I use stock AP1 16" wheels and Goodyear M+S tires in stock AP1 sizes.

Inflation pressures are not solely dependent upon tire size. Contributing factors also include, brand of tire, type of tire construction, width of rims they are on, alignment specs, how the car is used, the desired wear patterns (if that's a concern) while taking into consideration the recommended OEM inflation pressures (as this has more to do with weight loading as it relates to everything else).
There is no defined tire pressure, even for OEM tires on OEM rims. One starts with the OEM recommended pressures and experiment up and down till the owner finds a good compromise between desired performance, ride, handling and wear. "Reading" tread wear from time to time will assist greatly in this process.
A person running, for example, a given size of Michelins, may not use the same pressures as he would if he had Goodyear F1's or Bridgestone tires. Michelins tend to have very rounded tread to sidewall transition while other tires may tend to have a very blocky construction. This characteristic can play havoc with deciding what pressures to start off with.

Thanks a lot guys.

I'm gonna try 33 all the way around on the way to the dragon and see how that works.
probably have to adjust when I get to the higher elevation.:bgbounce:

I run Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3: 225/45/17 & 255/40/17 at 33 psi cold.....seems to be very good overall in daily driving.

An old auto-X trick is to get some white liquid shoe polish and paint a few lines on your tires (from tread to rim). Inflate to the factory recommendation Do some simulated hard auto-X runs and check the shoe polish. Keep reducing the pressure until you wear some of the shoe polish off as this will mean you are rolling over onto the side walls. Raise the pressure up a bit and this will be your low pressure setting for these tires. Adjust to your liking from there. The object of this exercise (in auto-X anyway) is to get the lowest tire pressure (larger tire footprint) WITHOUT rolling over onto the side walls.

Thanks, Yeah I have been reading about the Dragon Nazis. I plan to do most of my driving on the NC side anyway. Maybe a slow run down 129 for old times sake. ........ Kinda brings a tear to the eye.

Thanks Bieg. I'll try that..
I'm running Khumo MXs and they have a soft sidewall. Not the best setup for autocross but maybe if I baby them a little.............

What's been going on? Are they writing up a bunch of tickets or going for more?

I live here in Atlanta. I heard they're just going nuts on tickets. The whole story (in short) is that there were people complaining of speeders on the dragon. Cant confirm if it was the locals or the heavy bikers. Either way they would have up to 20 cars and or bikes patrolling the dragon. All being THP (Tennessee Highway Patrol). Which is about 95% of the dragon.

For an alternative, you could do runs on the Hellbender or the Charohalla Skyway, which is absolutely awesome.

I bought my S2000 about 2 weeks ago. Berlina Black 2004. Everything on it is factory. Wanted to buy a good tire pressure gauge and discovered that my tires were at 25psi all around... I was sad... quite sad indeed. Anyway, I'm on 32 all around now. I havent taken it on the Dragon yet though. Up until now, I ran my 4WS 89 Prelude Si.

Oh yeah... first post ftw... boku no namae wa Austin. Yoroshiku minna. :o
