Have a Megan test pipe on the car, for about 2-3 years now.
Last week started to get a rattling sound from it. if I take it off and hit the side of it, I get the rattling sound.
When you look inside it, it doesn't look like there is anything that could have come loose.
Any suggestions except replace it?

I think you're the best one to zero in on exactly where it's rattling. It appears that the Megan design incorporates a resonance chamber (that bulge in the pipe) that is more than one layer. Insert a metal rod down there and thump it from side to side in the bulge. If it's in there, then you'll have a tough time getting at the rattle. Is there still any sort of warranty on it?
If it's in the flanges or the welded bungs, then you can simply have those welded up again.

When I took it off... and hit it a few times, it is in the area of the resonance chamber.... didn't realize there was anything in there that could "break or come free"....
Wish it was at the flange or bung... but it is not...
Oh well, maybe time to go get a new one... lets see... Berks or Invidia? :)

Hey Mike, it's definitely the resonator... had the same problem but with a friggin' $1400 J's Racing Titanium Exhaust... it's not really fixable... better to just get a new test pipe.

Which J's exhaust? I was looking into getting the 70RS here in the near future. I have heard of resonator problems from both the Amuse and J's. that sucks cause I want either J's or Amuse. But I want it resonated. Non resonated will be way too loud for my liking.

It was a duel 60RS ti exhaust. However, it seems it's a titanium thing... most exhausts that are full titanium have a problem with the resonator packing falling apart or losing it's adhesive to the ti metal. It then rattles around inside and there's really nothing you can do. I'd highly recommend staying away from any full ti exhausts... if you really want ti on your car, just get a Ti tipped exhaust, but not full ti metal.

This group of people is the greatest.....
Met up with a member (who shall remain nameless unless he chimes in!), this past Sunday and got the test pipe.... he had it laying around minus the bolts and washer (which i had)...
Put it on last night.... Now the rest of my Comptech exhaust system looks dull....
Thanks again!!!
