Hello everyone,

I was hoping someone could give me some advice on my problem. I have read through many threads with people hearing sounds but couldn't find one with the exact same situation as mine.

I own a 2000 Honda S2000 with 133k miles. Whenever I make a right turn I hear a sound that sounds like a clunk or rubbing. I can actually feel this sound when my foot is on the floor. The clunking/rubbing lasts for a couple seconds so I can hear it 5 or 6 times consecutively in one turn. Sometimes I hear the same sound when I go over a speed bump.

This sound only happens when I make right turns. The sound occurs during both slow and fast turns regardless if the car is cold or warmed up. The sound can also appear when I am coasting through a turn. I recently changed my differential fluid but that did not help. Does anyone have suggestions on what it might be?

any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks.

Do you have a loose wheel liner that rubs the tire when you turn or compress the suspension?

Have the ball joints checked. Make sure all lugnuts are torqued properly and all rims and tires are on the correct end of the car.
Need more details. How long has this been going on? Have you done anything to the car just before this started. Details, details, details!!!!

Wow thanks for the quick reply.

The sound can appear in all three situations. On the gas, off the gas and even in neutral.

I'm not really sure what or where a loose wheel liner would be.

I would say this sound has been going on for the past two or three months. My car has megan racing coilovers. The only thing I can think of that I did to the car before I started noticing the noise was that I raised the car up a little. It was previously lowered more than it is now. Could I have done something to the suspension to have caused this?

Having coilovers installed and then settings changed can introduce all sorts of variables. I suggest you do an experiment and put back to the way it was before the noise started. If the noise goes away, you have your answer - it was something to do with raising the car. Perhaps the coilovers aren't torqued down correctly or when you raised the car, something isn't locking in and you have a bit of play in the suspension travel (which may affect the way the ball joints now sit).
Also, did you have the car aligned after the coilovers went on? Whenever you change the ride height, the alignment goes off and may result in something touching when the suspension is loaded up.
