I am trying to install a Modifry Plate as described in their installation instructions.

http://modifry.com/products/mounts/Modifry's%20Dash%20Bracket.pdf

My concern is that I can't find the buttons mentioned in the instructions. It appears that they should be under the panel shown here.
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h244/bagaloot/S%202000/dash.jpg

This is located directly under the steering column.
Since this plate is in such close proximity to the ignition and air bag, I am a little afraid to take it off. Anyone here had any experience with this?

Thanks for your help.

Are you referring to the "screw plugs" as described in step 1?

Thats it. They have to be hidden by that panel.

They are above the speedometer. Like in this picture:

The two flat circles on the underside of the dash above the tach. Quite hard to see unless it's bright outside or you're using a flashlight.

I hardly know what to say now. Good thing I'm not a brain surgeon. Thanks.

Now can you tell me where I left my walkie talkie?:)

Seriously, I do appreciate the help. I was ready to take that panel off the bottom.:)

That means I'll find it in the last place I look for it.:D

Of course, isn't that always the way it works out? ;)

Those things were more trouble to get out than I thought they were going to be.

Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier. How do you like the bracket? That is my satallite radio pictured on Modifry's site. I could have told you about the plugs. I ended up fashioning a hook out of a paper clip to get them out. Mine were in there pretty good. I'll try to post a picture of it once the site gets back up and running.

I have mine in place now. It's great.
The only problem I have now is trying to put the buttons that cover the screws back in place. No matter which way I turn them, it seems to be always wrong. The good news is that because they were so hard to find in the first place, that they are missing won't be noticed.

You will notice that there is a small, flat spot on the rim of the button. That spot goes toward the rear of the car, I believe. (I'll check it when I go to lunch today.) Of course, left and right are different, but that shouldn't be too hard to figure out once you have the orientation correct. ;)

I watched as this thread unfolded and I'm pleased to see that someone responded right away with the info you needed.
I, too, am interested in this bracket for attaching perhaps a GPS. Can you tell us if it is sturdy enough to support a heavy object like a GPS. When you go over bumps, does the bracket and accessory bounce around excessively?
I have the Panavise bracket mounted to the radio bolts and that thing is rock solid, but then, I have a fairly light object on it.

I think this is the bracket that Cman has his Nuvi mounted to. I saw it when we were in Austin for the SC Lake Event. It works really well for a GPS, but it looked like he added a piece of cork with some rubber on it to keep it from vibrating. I'd PM him and ask him to post some photos.

I have my GPS mounted on it and it works fine. There is some vibration but that could be resolved as above.

I'll try to take a picture tonight to show what Bipod is talking about.

I found that the bracket allowed the GPS to move around too much for my liking (either from driving or from my interacting with it). I had some cork stoppers from some other project, so I put a big one between the bracket and the dash with some thick double stick tap on both ends of it so it would stay in place. I also cut down another stopper to put it between the bracket and the NUVI mount so that the GPS wouldn't move around on the NUVI ball as much. I found the Garmin mount doesn't grip as tightly to Modfriy's NUVI ball as it does to the Garmin suction cup mount.

Like I said, I'll try to take some pictures tonight after my bike ride and post them up.

The GPS is pretty stable since I added the stoppers.

Thanks. Now I see what you were talking about. A nice solution. Have you tried to find black rubber stoppers (bungs)? Those would be less noticable. Might find them in a lab or lab supply store.

Honestly, since I installed these, I haven't given much thought to them (since from the driver's seat you don't see them and I very rarely sit in the passenger seat). But, now that I've looked at them again, I think I will be looking for some black ones like you mentioned so that the set up will look better. :)

That's a good solution. I have an XM radio installed and it doesn't vibrate much, but it does flex a little bit if you push the buttons on the right side, but it isn't distracting. I can see where the stopper would help. The one thing I need to do is find some black screws and nuts to replace the silver ones that are holding my AMPS mount to the bracket right now.

I just installed mine yesterday. I had a hell of a time getting that brass screw back into the heater controls! The "nut" behind it fell off, I still don't know if i have it in right. Thank god I had a small magnet to get it out of the control module. It seems sturdy enough so far..
