thanks, sean

I don't recall exactly, but aren't they held in place with bolts? Now, those bolts are probably rusted and or exhausted in place and will not want to move. If this is the case, I would use kroil or mouse milk and soak them for several days before I try to loosen them. Now don't just try to turn them counterclockwise. You may need to work them back and forth a bit to break them loose. You may still twist off the head of the bolt. If so, it's drill and thread tap time.

Then again, this is off of the top of my head, so I may not know anything that I am talking about...

Uummm...I really don't know where you were going with that comment. :) I'm not really for sure I know what your talking about. This has nothing to do with bolts, all im talkign about is around the very edge of the mufflers, some brands have "burnt" tips to them, and I was wondering if that was possible to do yourself. :D

If they're titanium tips, that burnt look is made by passing current through the titanium. It gives it a rainbow effect. If they're SS I have no idea.

Pull off the tips, stand them up, take torch to the tips (1 inch). Now you have blue tips.

Yes, now that I think about it, that i think is the case. I forgot about the stock exhaust tip "covers" that are bolted on there. :duh: Since they are SS, I will do a test torch job on some scrap SS to see what the outcome will be :D before I go and possibly mess up my $800 exhaust.

i think he bought a aftermarket exhaust and shortly after he received his exhaust they released a version with burnt tips... thus why he wants to find out if its possible to perform the mod himself.

I think for this to work right you would want to use a torch on the inside of the tip, not the outside. Burn it for a few sec in a circle as best you can. I would also hold the torch close to the metal to heat it and let it cool as fast as possible.
