I have an 05. I noticed today when I had a friend push the accelerator pedal down that the cable is not tight. The linkage opens all the way when to pedal is fully pressed.
When the pedal is all the way up in the relaxed position, there is a little slack in the cable.

I hope I explained this properly.

Anyone know if this is normal?

Thanks.

you should have some slack in the cable, aprox 4mm if you push down in the middle of the cable (the visible part of the cable)

Thanks. That clears it up.

Grab the mid-point of the exposed part of the stranded cable at the throttle body. Gently lift it up then pull it down. The complete distance covered should be about 1/4". Some have indicated that if you take out ALL the slack at this point, you will get better throttle actuation, however, I'm of the opinion that all things mechanical should have some sort of prescribed slack (or play). Honda must have known what they were doing when they posted this spec.

"Honda must have known what they were doing when they posted this spec".

That's what I was thinking all along.
My first impression was that to take the slack out would give faster response. Then, I had surmised that to take out the slack might cause a higher idle speed.

Thanks guys for your input. That's whats so great about the forum. Good people with more knowledge than I have.:)

You are correct about overtightening the cable- it can, and most likely will, result in a "sticky" throttle. Been there; done that. Leave a wee-bit o' slack. :)
