Quick question! I just bought a 2002 S w/ 36k in very good condition and inside the headlights underneath the lens the black paint has bubbled up. This has happened to both of them. Just wondering if anybody knows if this would be covered under warranty? Thanks

Your car is out of factory warranty by now, so you can't claim on that anymore unless you try to get the dealer to do a "goodwill" fix (and goodwill fixes are generally reserved for a dealer's well known and long time customers). For that, you would have to ask the dealer. Do you have an extended warranty? And what are the conditions that apply to that extended warranty (fine print)? The extended warranty is generally void if there are any mods on the car, related to the problem or not. Additionally, if there was an extended warranty, it must be transferred to the new owner for it to remain valid, if transfer it's even allowed (3rd party extended). Fees may apply. Did you transfer any warranty when you bought the car? Did you pay any fees?
Best thing to do is to check your documentation with the car and go to the dealer and ask.

I just bought the car from Carmax and got the 3 year/36k warranty. There are no mods yet. I didn't know if the lights would be under warranty!!

Read the Carmax warranty, especially the fine print.

Exactly! Whatever is the 3yr/36K warranty you got, it's not going to be the factory one. Only brand new cars get a factory warranty. If it were the factory warranty in force, then bubbling headlights would be covered. It will be "iffy" for anything Carmax gives you.

So did the OP have this issue resolved by Carmax?
