OK some loser slashed a 6" cut and a 1" poke in my top. I'm thinking I'll have to replace this before I turn in my car at the end of the lease, but I wanted to patch it for now (it could happen again). Our Honda dealer is unable to locate anything on this kit, but its been mentioned by wanabe at the other site. Does anyone know about this kit? Does it include adhesive as well as material? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Colin,
The service manual speaks of a "repair cloth" and an adhesive ("Sunstar 332" or equivalent). I'm not sure if it comes as a "kit" as I've never had to make repairs to my top. However, look at the following:
"Repair cloth" ................. (item #9)

The manual suggests to hold a piece of repair cloth on the inside where the tear or cut is. Then you cut the soft top and the repair cloth to make a bigger hole around the tear and to cut out the repair cloth in the shape of the new hole. Then you cut out another piece of repair cloth slightly bigger dimensions that the new hole (and the first cut-out cloth). You use the adhesive to stick the oversized cloth on the inside and the first cut-out fits exactly into the new hole you created. Keep it all pressed together till the adhesive does its job.
If you don't want to cut an even bigger hole, I would suggest you go and get some "Gorilla" duct tape. It'll stick to almost anything tenaciously and it happens to be black.

Hi thanks for the info Dave. I found a Vinyl patch kit at a boating store and tired it on the smaller hole. It didn't seem like the adhesive was sticking well, but we let it set up over night and although I haven't opened up the top yet, the smaller hole is holding (for now).
The larger hole is right by the small 3" elastic tensioner and this is pulling the rip apart. We're going to try to stitch it closer to relieve some of the tension while the adhesive dries and attempt the larger cut today.

Update:
With the larger cut stitched loosely to relieve the tension, the inflateable boat repair kit is holding the hole nicely. I let the adhesive cure for 2-3 days till I couldn't smell it anymore, and then tried the top. it held fine. Now after a few weeks of opening and closing it's still good. Realistically, I'll need to change the top before I return the lease, but this should hold for a while.
