I was reading about the AEM EMS actually improving gas milage in some cases. Is this true? My father is a runs a physical therapy practice and has to drive ALOT. Hes put close to 48k miles on his RL in about 14 months under what he considers average driving. Do you think an EMS would be a wise investment? Thanks

Improving gas mileage is not a magical thing. Most Hondas (and Acuras) run a little on the rich side (for safety, reliability and longevity). Devices like the AEM EMS (and even a VAFC) can be used to lean out any and every portion of the rev band. If you lean out the a/f, you use less gas, gain a little more power. However, go too far and you undo all the good stuff Honda put into the cars they build. Good investment? Well, what's important to you?

I honestly don't think you'd get your investment in the aem back in return over the life of the car.
You can eddy tune the aem so I suppose you could shave a little fuel usage in normal driving, but not enough to make it worthwhile.

I concur, the money saved in gas mileage would come nowhere close to paying for an AEM EMS.

Hrmm brought up some good points... While he is going through $650 a month in gas...the average life of his car is 2 years. So best case situation...it would take like 18 months to return the initial cost. Then again he could transfer it to his next car and so on. Heck I dont know any more >.<

With his kind of driving (high miles), he should consider something in the diesel line. Maybe a Jetta or Smart or one of the hybrids. There's not much price advantage to diesel anymore, but they do get very high fuel mileage. Diesels have been known to run for 100's of thousands of miles.
