strange 7000 rpm cutoff

when i first start the car and decide to gun it a few minutes into driving it, the rev limit is 7000. it takes maybe 2 miles or so before we can bring it all the way up to 9000, is this normal or something we should have checked???

It's normal -- the engine is protected against high revving until the engine gets up to proper operating temperature (3 bars is recommended in the owner's manual).
