Can someone tell me the signal characteristics (voltage levels, frequency, scale factors, etc) for the Vehicle Speed and Engine Speed input pulse signals to the Electric Power Steering control module on a 2000/2003 S2000?

Or, can someone point me to to a technical source that knows these signals. American Honda customer support couldn't help.

Thanks in advance,

Power source for activating the system ............... Ignition ON: Battery V
.................................................. ................... Ignition OFF: 0V

Vehicle speed pulse .......................................... 5V to 0V

Engine pulse .................................................. .. 3V to 6V

Drives the EPS Indicator light .............................. Battery V or 0V (OFF)

Provides idle speed-up signal to ECM .................... Battery V for 1 second.

Thanks for the info.
Do you know, or can you find, the scale factor for the vehicle speed signal? What I need is the number of pulses/mph/sec. For example: 0 mph = 0 pulses/sec; 60 mph = 600 pulses/sec (or whatever it is).

Do you know if the engine speed signal is the frequency of a single spark event, the frequency of the total of all spark events, or is it something like 0 pulses/sec = 0 rpm and 600 pulses/sec = 600 rpm (or whatever it is)?

I am adapting the S2000 electric steering to a DeTomaso Pantera. I have the mechanical modifications and interfaces worked out and now I need to generate the two input signals.

Thanks again,

I'm sorry, but my service manual only gives what I've posted. The information you seek is pretty detailed and you would have to find someone with the "electrical" service manual and even then, I can't say if that info would be found therein. Good luck.

OK.

Thanks for your help.
