Hi all, this is my first post, just purchased my 05 a week ago, eager to mod, wondering if the J's Racing ECU is safe for 91 octane I read somewhere it was designed around 94 minimum. Also are there any other ECU upgrade alternatives, I was depressed to see Hondata not offering any products for 05. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't put 91 in a stock S2K, let alone one with a J's ECU. I actually make a special trip to a Sunoco just to get 94 every time.

Here's another ECU option... http://www.s2kca.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12848

91 Octane is the only option here in sunny AZ. I could go to 76 and buy race gas, but at $7 a gallon it's not very pheasable. So Amuse is the best option ? I do like the price tag much better than J's. It doesn't provide much information in regards to what it provides. Is it similar to the J's racing and hondata gains, i.e. rev limit increase, vtec engagement drop, +10-15 hp somewhere in the RPM spectrum ? TIA.

I'll let other more knowledgeable people comment on the J's ECU, as I don't have any experience with it. Honda says 91 octane is fine for a stock car and that's what almost all stock S2000 owners use and that is highest the vast majority of us can get.

Look further down in that thread and use babelfish to covert the page from Japanese to English. I think it will answer any questions you might have.
I forget that out West the gasoline supply is very different than it is in the midwest. I believe on the inside of the gas door it says "PREMIUM FUEL ONLY." Here premium is 91 if you go to a crappy gas station like Speedway. If you go to a better gas station like BP or Shell you can get 93 where mid grade gas stations have 92. The only gas stations I know of that carry 94 are scarce and are all Sunoco's.
The lower grade of gasolines have been thought to cause the somewhat common problem in S2K's of clogged fuel injectors. Corey had to spend 7-800 to have all four replaced at a local dealership and his is an 05 with 40k+/-. If you are going to do any fuel or tuning it's always good to have an idea of what's going on via an A/F guage, preferably with a wideband for more accurate results. Some may call it overkill, but they aren't paying for it, and isn't peace of mind priceless?
