I just finished changing my oil and installing a security system. Now I have the "Malfunction Indicator Lamp" on. I removed the air box and the air intake tube to change the oil but I put everything back, connected and plugged in as they were before. I have look all over for unplugged or loose connectors but can't find anything wrong.
Is there anyway to reset the system to see if it will come back?
Any ideas as to where to go now?
did you connect those two small hoses that are next to the pvc hose? also make sure you put the hoses back on correctly for the canster that is under the air box

Those vacuum lines are part of the secondary air injection system. It is very common to re-connect those in the wrong sequence or to get the one-way white check valve pointed the wrong way. It is also not uncommon to unplug the electrical wiring harness from the solenoid attached to the airbox and forget to plug it back in.
If you were to pull the code, I'm almost certain you will get "P0411". Here is a thread I did years ago that will show you how to trace those lines and how to reset the CEL.

It's gone!!
I went over every connector and hose and still found nothing wrong. Started out for the dealer today and got halfway there and it cleared on its own.
I miss the days of the simple engines. :o

Damn it's back. Guess I'll try to get it to the dealer on Monday.

Or go to Pepboys or Autozone and see if they'll pull the code for you. Then post it back here and maybe we can figure something out.

Dealer has the car now. I took it in and the dealer said that the code was for an O2 sensor. He said it was a temporary code and he reset it. The CEL came back with in 5 minutes. I took it back and they are trying to get it repaired tomorrow.
GOD I HOPE THEY GET IT FIXED. I AM SUPPOSED TO DRIVE TO FLORIDA ON WEDNESDAY. :banghead:

If it's the primary sensor, then you need to get it fixed right away. If it's the secondary sensor (in the cat), then it could wait.
