so i was driving today doing errans. And everytime i started the car back up it was having a harder and harder time starting up. until i got home and it just wouldnt start anymore. The battery is at 12.5v. I hooked up a jumperpack anyways and it still doesnt start up. Stock alarm. My car is 01.

I thought it was the alt but it cant be if the battery has enough power to crank. Any ideas?

If the battery will spin the starter and engine, you must determine wether you have a spark or fuel issue. Since both of these issues are controlled by the PGM injection computer, it could be the cause. However you need to have a PGM tester to verify what is really going on. I am only guessing. So it's dealer ho.

the starter was barley going. It didnt have enough power to start the car. im positive it wasnt a fuel/spark probelm.

Well then charge the battery and see if it will start.

Further to the PM I replied to, I would like to clarify that it is the starter motor that is having a hard time turning, right? Since you said that once it starts, you can drive it around fairly normally. I would suggest that your alternator is working but your battery is not taking a charge. Depending upon how many accessories you are running on the car (big stereo, headlights, air conditioning, etc.), the charging system may not be contributing enough for your car's electrical needs during certain conditions and it may still be drawing battery power at times and simply draining it and not charging back up. Do the checks I mentioned in the PM and let us know what you found out. As I said, your jumperjack may not be able to provide enough power to crank the starter motor if your dying battery is diverting too much power in an attempt to bring itself back up (but can't).
If you jump start the car from another car, it may work. If it doesn't then disconnect your negative terminal first and clip the jumper cable onto a solid metal part of the engine. That way, you get no juice going into the bad battery. It should start easily and if it does, you have your answer and new battery is in your future.
